Removing "Avant browser ::" per tab.

Post by SierraSonic » Tue Oct 12, 2004 10:30 pm

Currently if you open up the same website and open many tabs from within the website in tabs, you wouldnt almost not be able to tell which tab is which page because of the "Avant Browser ::" logo in every tab.

Once in the Title bar is enough, dont you think?

We couldn't stop it appearing in the Avantbrowser form without losing favicons altogether.

The tab's title does not actually have anything to do with the favicon so it would not be affected.

The forum admins would have to remove "Avant Browser ::" from the forum's <title> code (would be a completely silly thing to do/request IMHO) to comply with this request.

IMHO (and this is only my opinion), if your going to complain about one site's use of the title tag, your going to have to do it for every forum/site out there, which will then completely undermine the intended use of the tag in the first place. Instead, a better option would be (again only IMHO) for Anderson to replace the title tag (or atleast, a part of it), and only display it in the tooltip.

This then causes additional problems for Anderson as he would have to;

1. Account for webmasters incorrectly using the <title> tag
2. Account for webmasters not using the <title> tag at all...
3. Account for non-conventional title captions
4. Guess which part of the title actually needed replacing....
5. Etc etc etc etc

You can just remove titles from the PhpBB General Configuration
IE8(Pro), Microsoft Security Essentials
Main PC:

Secondary PC same as primary but with Windows 7 x64 Ultimate as the OS.

But my point was, all forums/site's use the title tag, so you'd also have to ask them to do the same..... otherwise, whats the point?
