time and date

Post by mathman » Fri Sep 13, 2013 4:03 pm

My setting for time and date is UTC - 5 (Eastern time USA). However, the times on the forum are showing up as UTC. Why?

It is more screwed up than I first realized. Current time for me is Thursday 7:06 PM, forum says it is Friday 12:06 PM, 17 hours later!

I just sent MysteryFCM an email letting him know about the time errors. The server is set for Beijing time (UTC +8), so it's apparently something in the forum software that's not adding or subtracting the correct amount of time to show the correct local time per your settings in User Control Panel > Board preferences > My timezone. The time I'm seeing on the forums is 17 hours ahead of actual time here.

Oks final tests done, and should *now* be fixed. Sorry for the confusion and inconvenience folks.

Now that MysteryFCM corrected the time problem on the server, you may need to do the following to see the correct time on the forums:

Go to the User Control Panel, click on Board preferences, change your timezone to a different one, and click Submit.
Then change it back to the correct timezone, and click Submit again.

My time is now correct. I didn't have to do anything.

I noticed, however, that the times listed on forum entries are still wrong. Will the above fix that?

No, the time stamps on the posts won't be changed retroactively. If the time is correct in the User Control Panel and on current posts, you're good to go.
