[INFO] Information regarding recent downtime

Post by MysteryFCM » Tue Jul 07, 2009 2:22 pm

Over the last several hours, the server that hosts these forums developed an issue that resulted in the databases becoming corrupted, and the PHP CGI running rampant. I've fixed the issues with the databases, and checked the PHP configuration for anything that could've caused this but thus far, have drawn a blank.

As such, whilst I've got the server working again, I would appreciate your reporting to me, any issues you come across.

The server seems to be running really slow right now, almoset immediately after it is back up. Within minutes. Surely it's a DOS attack, well that's my guess.

Nope, not an attack. FastCGI is currently overloading the server, and I've still got the information_schema DB to repair .... I'm hoping to have it completely sorted out within the next hour or two.

Thanks for letting me know. There's still an issue with the MySQL database that we're working on, so any issues still around, will be resolved asap :)

That one was my fault I'm afraid, you'll have received that whilst I was debugging the problem.

Oks folks, I've done a complete re-build of MySQL and imported the latest backups of the databases (I backed 'em up a couple seconds before removing MySQL, so shouldn't be anything missing).

This has allowed a new information_schema to be created, and appears to have resolved the issues.
