Can anyone tell me how to do these 2 things?

Post by MagicStarER » Sat Jun 06, 2009 12:14 am

This is silly I know, but can anyone tell me how to:

1) Add an image for a signature?

2) Include a website in my profile? There doesn't seem to be a place anywhere to enter my website info... Am I missing something?

I would really appreciate some help! #-o

Thanks!

Both can be found in the User Control Panel
Direct links: Edit profile --- Edit signature

EDIT: Moved to Forum Discussion

Yes, dear, I know that this area can be accessed from the control panel. Just that when I do that, I don't get a space to enter the url for the website.

As far as adding the graphic for the signature, I guess I should have said that I needed to know if I can add a graphic from my computer, or if it needs to be a hosted one from a place like Photobucket, or what... it does not give you the option of uploading your image.

I think I should take a better look at the FAQ's - look what I found regarding BB code and images:
» Can I post images? Yes, images can be shown in your posts. If the administrator has allowed attachments, you may be able to upload the image to the board. Otherwise, you must link to an image stored on a publicly accessible web server, e.g. http://www.example.com/my-picture.gif. You cannot link to pictures stored on your own PC (unless it is a publicly accessible server) nor images stored behind authentication mechanisms, e.g. hotmail or yahoo mailboxes, password protected sites, etc. To display the image use the BBCode [img] tag.
I'm assuming this is the answer for the images in the signatures, too, right? Because the editor uses BB code like this one.

I'm sorry to be such a pain. Thank you for trying to help.

I still don't see the line to enter the website url, though!

Website is the 6th box down on the the profile settings page in the Control Panel.

Yes you need to have a picture already someone on the internet to beable to use it in a signature. That isn't a restriction by us thats just the way it is.. The only place that it gives you an option to upload a picture is your avatar and/or pictures inside posts.

Bear in mind that your website address will only be visible if someone looks in your profile, unless you also put it in your signature.

To always show your signature, go to posting defaults and select yes to: Attach my signature by default

Also, check the Forum Rules concerning signatures (although I'm sure that you will be fine).

Actually you don't have to include your personal website in your sig in order for people to see it on your post. A button will show up right beside your Profile and PM buttons on every post your make, it will say WWW. Just add your site to your profile and the WWW button will show up on all your posts.

Yep, sure Matt, but some people like to have it visible without hovering or clicking.

Well, things like that can go alittle far into being lazy..lol :)

It was just the way you said it in your previous post that made it sound like unless you put in your signature it would only be available in your profile which isn't the case.

Apologies Matt, I must learn to clarify my posts :-)

And well done MagicStarER for getting it done.

Magicstarter, you see the WWW button that is now beside the email button tha means there is now a website on your profile. Just find where it says www.something.com under User Control Panel -> Profile(along the leftside) and in between Jabber and location is the website field and that is where you change it to whatever you want.

If you cannot see this field then let me know what site you want to include there and I will be more than happy to change it for you.
