Incorrect link on Orca browser congratulations page

Post by bksening » Mon Mar 09, 2009 6:39 pm

On the Orca browser update congratulations page:
http://www.orcabrowser.com/updatecongratulations.php

the "Please click *here* to see what's new in Orca Browser" incorrectly links to http://www.avantbrowser.com/new.html

It should probably link to: http://blog.avantforce.com/orca-browser-11-build-2/

Incidentally, there doesn't seem to be a http://www.orcabrowser.com/new.html webpage. Perhaps there should be?

The version history page for Orca is http://www.orcabrowser.com/history.php.

Thanks for bringing the typos to our attention though.

It looks like the What's New link is now gone, but there are still typos (I just don't know if they were there before!)

The text keeps saying "Avant Browser is...." many times, when it should say Orca Browser.

I take back my previous post; the Orca update congratulations page is more messed up than I thought!

It is actually doing some serious (and seriously weird) web browser detection, and displaying different content for different browsers:

For Orca 1.1b2, displays:
- you have latest Orca 1.1 build2
- click here to see What's New <-- the link is WRONG (points to Avant what's new)
- Support Orca Browser; "Orca Browser is....."

For Avant browser, displays:
- click here to download latest 1.1 RC1 <-- here link WRONG (points to Avant download), and latest Orca version is WRONG
- click here to see What's New <-- the link is WRONG (points to non-existent orcabrowser.com/new.html)
- Support Orca Browser; "Avant Browser is....." <-- totally WRONG text

For other browsers, displays:
- *only* shows Support Orca Browser; "Avant Browser is....." <-- totally WRONG text

Why is there even browser detection at all on this page, and especially the totally whacked out wrong text when viewed with Avant browser? All the page needs to do is check ONCE for ORCA browser and display the CORRECT current build and what's new link. The remaining Orca Browser text is always the same and needs no special processing.

I understand your confusion bksening.. Apparently Jasmine is using that same script for both Avantbrowser.com and Orcabrowser.com and she didn't make it site specific. If your on orcabrowser.com don't display any Avant related text and vice versa. I'll see what I can do about getting it fixed up.
