Any way to keep unread posts, "unread"?

Post by Noyb » Mon Feb 25, 2008 6:06 am

Sometimes, throughout the day, I stop in here and check for new posts, and there are about 10 of them. But I don't always have time to read them all, but I still want to read them. And when I come back a few hours later to read them, they're no longer in the "View New Posts" list. Is there a way to keep unread posts in the "View New Posts" list until I read them or mark them "read"?

The only way to keep them unread is to not read them..lol You can goto the View new posts page but you can't click on any of them if you want them to stay marked as unread.

LOL. I know; I meant, can I get them to stay in the View New Posts page until I read them? For example, I'll come in here with a little time to spare, just read maybe 3 out of the 10 or so new posts, and want to read the rest later. But when I come back later and click on View New Posts, it says, "No suitable matches were found", even though I didn't read all of the new posts from earlier that day. Is there any way I can get them to stay in View New Posts until I actually read them?

You're confusing new posts with unread posts. The posts that you didn't read are still showing as unread if you go into the forums, but since you've visited and come back, they're no longer new. They're the same ones that were here when you visited before. Any posts made since the time you left would be new, not the old ones.

And currently, there's no way to keep them in that list. You'll have to find them in the forums themselves.

Oh, okay. I noticed that hornakapopolis.com had this feature and hoped it would be here, too. Thanks, horni and statm! :)

Horni's website is using a much different version of phpBB. This board is a fairly vanilla phpBB3 install, while Horni's website is a heavily modified phpBB 2 install powered by Integramod.

Oh, yeah; I knew that. I was just hoping that they included that feature in phpBB 3. Oh well...
