Yes, but we need a single 'progress-bar', maybe current background and other colors - we don't use blue for admins and mods, so maybe blue...
Ok, I made a new set but I only made the main ones so far (not the special ones).
I like current special ones, just moderator could be dark green, as angeldust said.

"I think that the mods should be a darker green & support staff the current light green helps to identify them upon a quick glance."

Edit: Since we use "system" colors for admins and mods, maybe text is not needed, it is above, it would be intuitive enough:

Yellow - Developer
Orange - Administrator
Dark Green - Moderator
Light Green - Support Staff
Grey - AvantGuard

I'm going to fool around with the colors because I don't like them how they are. Also, I was thinking of keeping the Special Ranks because the only change I made to the new ones besides the color was to take off one pixel on the side.

Ok, I remade them using the background and the salmon color of the current ranks and changed the shadow into a hi-lite. It looks as if there isn't enough contrast between the backgroudn and the foreground as you go up in rank.

Ok, I'm talking to myself again. I just made a new rank for me since I seem to be the resident grafic artist.

Don't worry about being alone, I'm interested and I'm listening :)

Did you post the new rank graphics somewhere?

Are you using PHOTOSHOP/IMAGE READY to make the images? When I D/Led your image earlier, it appeared to be from Image Ready.

In PHOTOSHOP, I used the TEXT ->WP ICONIC SYMBOLS to make the stars, I think it was the letter M (if you're interested in knowing).

Yeah, they're in the same post I posted the first versions but they're now also at the bottom of this post.

Hmmm... now it's too light IMO, maybe something like this would help (that black line at the end of color): Image .

@ WebGuy. I don't like the animation at all. The rank images should be as simple as possible. Also, the ranks went from 254-324 bytes to over 1 kilobytes for most of the and over 2 kilobytes some of them. The special ones are over 6 kilobytes On a single page, there could be up to 15 different ranks and that would slow the page loading time to people on dial-up.

I agree.

I doubt they would affect the page loading as much as users' AVATARs though.

But anyway, I'm just trying to put different ideas forward for you to evaluate. Pick the ones you like, if any, and discard the rest.

I like all the options for the colors. The current ones, all the ones people showed off in this thread ;) It's hard to choose which ones are the best. But, I think the current ones are fine! They do have matching ones you can get from phpbb.com that match the subsilver theme too.

This is a problem - http://forum.avantbrowser.com/viewtopic ... 599#101599 - Newbie and Avantic Deluxe look almost the same...

What exactly is the problem with it? I can see and understand an "I don't like this," but I'm still unclear on how this is a "problem."

They do look similar, but I can tell them apart. I really don't think anyone would get confused though.

It is confusing - from my last post - "Newbie and Avantic Deluxe look almost the same...", single "progress bar" would be clearer, that's all, it's just my opinion. Read previous posts for more.

I guess I don't understand how it's confusing. Confusing to who? If you don't know the purpose of the rank images, then you're going to be confused by what they are anyway.

If you look at the two you describe side by side and you don't know what they mean, you wouldn't know what they mean even if they were one color and two different sizes.

If you do know what rank images are, then you know they work off of post count... and your post count is about an inch below the rank image anyway.

Are you worried that someone is going to think you're a "newbie" because the color bar is so short?

I think he believes they are too similar in color.

The current rank images in use are confusing to users looking at the rank image to determine how long the posters have been posting answers to questions. The progression of the line across the image is what is confusing. It's similar to a download progression bar that recycles many times and really doesn't let you know how much you have downloaded or how much is left. It should steadily progress across the image as data is downloaded or post count goes up.

It's not as confusing when the images are displayed side by side, as when one appears by itself on a page. Then the only thing different is the shade of color, which is confusing because of it being so close to the other color with nothing to compare. On this page, my rank image looks like I have more posts than Dreamer.

If you feel a user should not need to use the rank images because the number is directly below, then they shouldn't be displayed anyway, as "that would slow the page loading time to people on dial-up" and serve no purpose. But, some users probably would like a graphical display instead of reading numbers.

IMO - Those last images look great DrDrrae!
As stated before, I like them without the rank titles. :)
