suggestion #3 - have a better managed ad blocker

Post by UFO UFO » Mon Jan 03, 2005 6:53 pm

why not make the ad blocker more managed:
make something like a tree view, which for each site there will be its own ads to block.it can be faster for the program to block, and more understood for the user.plus, add an option for each site to block flash/all pictures/all activex/all activex setups/all java/floating ads...plus add a global filter, for all sites, and even an update option for the ad definitions, and update those definitions each time the program starts.
you should look at the "norton personal firewall" ad settings to look what i'm talking about:

It would seem that one gets what one pays for. I use AdMuncher for the same reason. For a free browser Avant is excellent and the ad blockers can learn as they're used and the user adds sites. I'm afraid a more elaborate blocking system would load the browser down with bloat--besides--it's not a firewall!

i didn't say it's a firewall !

i just wanted to show a nice example of the ad blocking thingy in :

http://i2r.rusfund.ru/static/552/imgs/winxp/44788.jpg

the least you can do is to put "general blocking" (all default rules)and "customized blocking"(all other rules) instead of what is now-they are together and messy.
please arrange that .please....

so, any comment?

don't you think that the ad blocker should be more managed?

at least divide to to : "avant configuration" (more general)and "user configuration"(or: "added configuration" which is usually more specific )...
