Avant Downloader improvements

Post by polli » Mon Oct 14, 2013 12:12 pm

First time user of this browser and I must say i'm rather impressed by its features especially the downloader. The video sniffer works well but i've run into problems downloading videos hosted on novamov.com and uploadc.com the error i'm getting is "Server Error Code: 403" can this be fixed ?
Also still on video downloads, videos on dailymotion are not sniffed out as one large file so for example if a video is about half an hour long the downloader will show many files about a megabyte in size ready for download, could this be fixed so that there is one large continuous file to download from dailymotion ?
Thanks for this browser and hope to see these improvements considered.

Can you give me a video download link for testing?

It's the same situation with the videos on youtube, please see this:
How can I download videos from youtube?---- 14/6/2012
On youtube, Avant can only download videos played by html5 player.
Right click on the video, if it shows up a flash player context menu(there will be an item About Adobe Flash Player *****), Avant can't get the full size, if it shows up a html5 context menu(there will be an item About Html5), Avant can get the full size.
For making the video played by html5 player, you have to go to http://www.youtube.com/html5 and join html5 test, and then reopen the video link , it will be played with html5 player, and then you can download it with avant downloader.
Another user Crazy_John uses Magic actions for youtube in latest Avant Browser, he said he can download both videos played by flash player and html5 player. For getting it:
http://www.chromeactions.com/

No solution currently.

video hosted on novamov

Code: Select all

http://www.tubeplus.me/movie/1111610/Lost/season_1/episode_14/Special/
video on uploadc

Code: Select all

http://www.lovelyanime.com/denpa-onna-to-seishun-otoko/5/5/
on dailymotion sad to hear no solution though programs such as jdownloader and save2pc are able to download the videos in full, hope to see Avant gain similar functionality to the two.

One site that the downloader catch the videos is http://www.streetfire.net

Right now for youtube i use the firefox plugin 1-Click YouTube Video Download and works very well .
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... -download/

Theres one for Dailymotion too 1-Click Dailymotion Video Download but stoped of work 1 or 2 weeks ago , need be updated.

xiaobing , you think its possible that the adownloader can catch the downloads of this plugin ?

Because right now , the videos of this plugin are downloaded by the firefox downloader .
(the firefox downloader its much slower than the downloads of the avant adownloader ,
with avant adownloader i get the max speed of my internet and with firefox downloader i just get sometimes around 25% or 35% of my net speed ) .

I didn't see the error message but the files I downloaded are webpages instead of videos.

Can you download the link using other download tool?

I cannot make it work with adownloader. It only works using firefox downloader. Sorry about that.

yes, Internet Download Manager is capable of downloading these files. I think it may be related to referrer as trying to download them directly from their host sites works i.e if you initiate the download from novamov and uploadc

I use IDM, it downloads the link as a webpage too:

tested mine on internet explorer in a virtual machine and it was able to capture downloads not only from both uploadc and novamov but it was able to download the full file from dailymotion as well. as a test I installed Avant on a clean installation in the virtual machine, still got the 403 error while trying to download from the two. I also get the same error(403) if I input the direct video url link into IDM and leave the referrer field empty.

i visited this link http://www.novamov.com/video/oj1f3bc9ilklc the video is a promotion for a fruit drink isn't it ? using that link works, so it seems downloading directly from novamovs site does the trick.

Dear all,

Is there a way to invoke Avant Downloader from other applications? I know there is an add-on for Chrome, but what about Firefox and IE?

I've tried "adownloader.exe <url>" but it doesn't work. Would appreciate advice on the correct command line parameters to use, thanks.

You can use Process Explorer to ID the correct CL params for it. Will take a quick look to see if it exposes any COM's you can use.

/edit

No COM's exposes that I can ID, and doesn't appear to be using CL params, so you'd just need to launch the downloader MZ itself. May want to ask Anderson if he can make it scriptable.

internet download manager has a convenient feature where the download size is shown at the add url dialog before you start the download. could this functionality be added into Avant Downloader in future.

It has been recorded. The developer will consider it.
