Please Fix browser:home Focus Stealing

Post by PredatorKing » Fri Feb 01, 2013 5:40 am

Currently, I have set new tabs to open with browser:home being the page that is opened. However, the search bar that is part of the page constantly steals the focus of my typing. Most of the time, though, I open a new tab and then wish to begin typing into the address bar immediately. Therefore, I would rather the focus be automatically given to the address bar and not the search bar of the browser:home page.

Also, before anyone tells me to just use a blank page, I would still like the option of having easily accessible tabs when I open a new tab, which the browser:home page provides quite well.

Please fix this, as either an option or as the default setting. Thanks.

I'm not so sure this has been fixed. I have installed beta 6 and still experience the problem. The search bar on the browser:home page steals the focus when I open a new tab. The address bar does not appear to be focused, though, so I don't know if it is desired that the search bar takes the focus. I would prefer that there be an option to have the address bar take the focus, instead of the search bar.

The address bar does not appear to be focused,
Do you mean that the address bar doesn't be highlighted when you open browser:home page?

I believe he means when you type it goes into search bar automaticly instead of address bar . :|

Axeman is correct. In fact, when I open a new tab, the address bar IS highlighted, making it appear that the focus is there, but when I type the search bar receives the text.

Since I installed beta 6,I cannot reproduce this problem any more, the word I type goes to address bar correctly although the cursor is blinking in the search bar also.
Is there any difference if you use a brand new Avant profiles?

It seems to matter whether you open a new tab by clicking the new tab button in the tab bar or if you just use the hotkey combination. Using Ctrl+T or Ctrl+N will cause the problem for me, whereas clicking the New Tab button will not cause the problem. Also, I am using the Chrome rendering engine, if that is any help in solving this problem.
