Current auto-upgrade isn't satisfying?
As long as the auto-upgrade service is launched, at the startup of avant browser, it notifies you to auto-upgrade to the latest version. If you select Yes, the auto-upgrade program will run and then start up avant browser.

I'm confused. When you start up avant browser, you got the new version notification, but it didn't auto-upgrade to the newest?
Could it be that it has upgraded to the new version, but you wasn't aware of that? Check Help->about avant browser, the newest version is avant browser 2012 build 169

Please provide the following information before reporting problems:
Avant Version; System(also point out it is a 32 or 64-bit OS);IE; Memory Size; CPU Speed;
Optional: Firewall; Graphics Card

For the problems hard to replay, could you add me into your MSN or Skype list if you use either of them? The advantage is that you can let us know the situation in the first place by making some screenshots, sharing your screen or explaining the specific problems more clearly when they happen.

Same here, I've never seen an auto-update option in Avant. The Avant help says that there is the following option under Miscellaneous in Tools | Avant Browser Options, but it's not there:

"Automatically upgrade to a new version if applicable: Automatically downloads and installs the latest version of Avant Browser."

There are quite a few other differences between what the help says about the Miscellaneous section of Options and what's actually there now. Maybe it's time to update the help.

The option about auto-update is "Notify me when a new version is available" in Tools>Miscellaneous.

There is something wrong with our server currently, we will check the auto-update feature later.

Now I'm confused. The "Notify me when there is a new version available" option does not cause Avant to auto-update. What it does is check for updates and pop up a dialog when one exists. You still have to download the installer and run it manually. If you actually have a true auto-update feature, there's nothing anywhere in Options to turn it on.

The normal auto-update is that if a new version is available, it will pop up a window when you start up Avant and tell you a new version is available and ask if you want to update, click yes, Avant browser will update itself automatically.

Which version of Avant browser do you use when you got the popup to update? I remember this kind of update only appears when using an old version.

The version before Avant Browser 2012 build 21 will notify you to download from the download page. The version above Avant Browser 2012 build 21 will auto-upgrade. We think the users using old versions must have problems(maybe auto-upgrading failed before) in auto-upgrading to the latest version, so we forward them to download from the download page

Hey cool, AB just offered me an auto update to 169. Why didn't it do it earlier?

You have to wait for several days for it notifying you.
Autoupgrade is decided by two conditions:
1. Avant client auto-detects the new version every 7 days.
2. The pack is downloaded successfully into your computer.

So is there anyway to manually initiate an auto update? If not, I'd like to request such an option if possible.

I guess that the closest is to manually click: Help >> Check for New Version
But that just gives you a notification and takes you to the download page.
