Intercept when software tries to open links in other browser

Post by mbrazil » Sat Jan 07, 2012 11:13 pm

This may be beyond the scope of what a browser is able to do or supposed to do, but I find it particularly annoying when a program opens a link in another browser altogether. For example, if I'm working in another program, and I click an item in a help menu that turns out to be a link to a page on the program's website. It's not unusual for a link like this to force Internet Explorer to open instead of Avant, even though Avant is configured as the default browser.

Is there some way to have Avant capture links passed from other programs that ignore the default browser setting so that the page opens in Avant instead of Internet Explorer?

As far as I know, there is no way to do this.
