Avant Ultimate 2012 with firefox-rendering 3.6.25

Post by Crazy_John » Mon Jan 02, 2012 12:10 am

I believe that firefox 3.6.25 as a better performance than the 9's and 10's versions , why not have it in avant also ,
as we also have IE 6 , 7 ,8 ,9 , IE default ... :D

Other thing , firefox 3.6.25 was released 12 days ago , 20 Dec 2011 tho.

I hope I have been convincing enough

If this happens , i think would be better that the folder of options\files could be different of what we have now (Application Data\Mozilla\Avant) , to don't mix the things and plugins ....
For example could be (Application Data\Mozilla\Avant3.6.25) or other.

I believe that Firefox 9 definitely has the best Firefox performance, because it has all the interface and garbage collector improvements since FF4, and JaegerMonkey Javascript engine, and now with Type Inference in FF9.

We do not need multiple versions of FF as previously for IE because there are no different versions of compatibility to account for as required by IE. (And besides, "multiple" versions of IE in Avant was only because of the version of IE you happened to have on your computer. Avant didn't do anything special to support multiple IE versions.)

One other thing , Firefox 9.0.1 was released on December 21, 2011.

I hope I have been convincing enough.

I believe that Firefox 9 has the best Firefox performance , because i did some tests in the site browserscope.org and webkit.org/perf/sunspider/sunspider.html and the results are much better for Firefox 9 :D

The cpu usage its also better for Firefox 9.

One thing that is worst is the memory usage ,
Firefox 3.6.25 + 26pages = 559 MB's
Firefox 9.0.1 + 26pages = 896 MB's
Ok the performance is better but they need try fix the memory usage.

And the version 3.6.25 its just 1 day older than the 9.0.1

I hope I have been convincing enough , even if its to get lower amount of memory in the 9 versions

Bump :D

But now for
Avant Ultimate 2012 with firefox-rendering 3.6.28
(For exemple gecko 3.6.28 folder. )

Firefox 3.6.28 was Released: 08 Mar 2012 (yesterday) , should have been released for some reason :D

Would be cool if it was put in avant also , to use when we want see alot of videos and pictures , when we have alot of tabs and we have some heavy programs opened , will help to have the memory usage low .

I hope I have been convincing enough even more this time

BTW , ^^ this is not really needed , the version 3.6.2X and the 10.0.2 work ok using the same settings folder , some plugins dont work in one but work in the other , but that doesnt matter much.

I just need the gecko 3.6.28 folder :D

According to an article I read at http://tinyurl.com/7qu9bvw, there will be no more releases, security updates, or stability updates in the Firefox 3.6.x series after next month. The following is a quote from the article:

"It is safe to say that we will see at least one additional release of the Firefox 3.6 browser if Firefox 3.6.28 will be released in the coming days. The Firefox 3.6 chapter ends in April, and Mozilla has urged the remaining Firefox 3.6 users before to upgrade to the current stable version of the browser . Firefox 3.6 users who stick with the browser version after April will not receive security and stability updates, or any other form of updates, which makes the browser vulnerable to exploits and attacks that are fixed in the supported versions of the browser."

I note that the install executable for Mozilla Firefox 11 (Final) appears on today's list of new releases at MajorGeeks.com.

Orca isn't being updated and hasn't been for a while, so the version of the gecko engine included with it is probably quite old and therefore insecure and dangerous to use.

If they don't update it anymore, it will become more and more of a security risk as time goes by. You'll be using it at your peril.

Orca is a option , but has ff 3.5.6 , would be better if it was 3.6.28

yes you are right but i would use it for maybe some years without problem , security yes but i dont take the security risks to the limit , i dont have any problem of use a 1 or 2 years old browser.

Looks like in april there will be a new version of firefox , firefox 3.6.29 , not sure if will be the last one or not.

Bump Bump

For Avant with Firefox 3.6.28

Test i did with the same pages:
The first number is the total memory used in the pc.
The second number is is the same but after close all pages except 1 and go to google.com

FF 13 ... 716 > 362
FF 3 .... 355 > 328

The other day with FF 13 , the total memory was 1650mbs , closed all pages except 1 and went to google.com , after this the memory was around 1300mbs , very weird something is not ok with FF 13 and FF after 4 version , it doesnt release the memory .

Anyone know of some (1 , 2 or 3 or 5) heavy pages that use alot memory ? If yes post it , thanks.

One more bump :D

To have firefox 3.6.28 in Avant , or in Avant 2013 .

" Memory leaks

Memory leaks can cause Firefox not to release memory that it is no longer using, especially with older versions. There has been a lot of effort to reduce the leaks in recent versions, and Mozilla developers have have created tools to detect them. [6] [7] To minimize leaks, you should upgrade to the most recent version. The most common memory leaks appear to have been fixed in Firefox 2. [8] Firefox 3 uses even less memory than Firefox 2 due to more memory leak fixes and further efforts to reduce memory usage. [9] [10] [11] [12] "

One thing that its not there yet is that in firefox 10 , 11 ... 13 and probably all versions after version 4 (4 included) , all have a big memory leak .

Thats why right now firefox 3.6.28 is my favorite browser too use when i need alot of pages or flying in the net for long time , its not old (its of 08 Mar 2012) , usually uses around 400 500mbs sometimes 600mbs of total memory (commit charge) , firefox exe uses around 150 200mbs , and after close all pages except one and go to google.com the total memory (commit charge) goes down to 350 or 400mbs.

The other day , with firefox 3.6.28 , i went to alot of pages with pictures and videos by a long time of use , after close all pages except one and go to google.com the total memory (commit charge) went down to around 360mbs .

With firefox 13 , if i go with it to alot of pages and use it for a long time , i have to close it and open it again many times , the total memory (commit charge) start to grow up to 950mbs , to 1650mbs  and if i dont close it it goes up even more...
When i close all pages except one and go to google.com or to a blank page (about:blank) the total memory (commit charge) goes from 950mbs to 800mbs or from 1650mbs to 1300mbs , something its not right .
800mbs and 1300mbs for a google page or a blank page (about:blank) ?? :wtf:

I wonder how many time until this is fixed , 1 year , 2 years ? thats too much.
Thats why , right now i prefer firefox 3.6.28

Please put firefox 3.6.28 in Avant , and all this problems are out :D
