Mouse Rocker
Hi, I've been using Avant for about 6 years now. It is my primary browser. I recommend it to friends at every opportunity. One thing I would like to see changed is the mouse rocker action. It seems more natural to rocker from right to left to go back (as in Firefox) than from left to right. To offer this as an option would be a great thing. Thanks for all your work and a great browser.

Re: Mouse Rocker
Hello,
What do you mean by "Mouse Rocker"? Like mouse gesture?

It's configurable under Tools>Avant Browser Options...>Mouse>Mouse Gestures.

Re: Mouse Rocker
Hey guys, thanks for the quick reply.
Mouse rocker is using the right and left click buttons to navigate forward and backward.
Using Firefox, I can quickly right-left click to navigate back or left-right click to navigate forward.
Avant works backwards of this.

Mouse Rocker again
Hey guys, thanks for the quick replies last time.
Mouse rocker is using quick left/right or right/left mouse clicks to navigate forwards or backwards respectively. This extremely quick method of navigating has been my favorite since discovering mouse gestures in Firefox.
In Avant, the rocker function works, but its function is backwards from its operation in Firefox and is directionally unintuitive.
Since it exists in Avant I would love to see its operation reversed or, at least configurable.
I tried using a rocker (Rocker 0.1) program, but that stopped all rocker action. I'm guessing that the opposite actions in Rocker conflicted with the rocker actin in Avant.
Thanks for a great (my favorite and most used) browser and all the help.

Re: Mouse Rocker again
I don't understand this, wasn't this gone through on the other post.
To go back I use mouse click right then left, to go forward I use mouse click left then right.
It's already there, what am I missing?

Re: Mouse Rocker again
Hi, if I read them correctly, the answers to the last post never got around to discussing direction. Naturally you (or at least I) would expect the rocker motion left/right to take you forward, like reading left to right is considered forward. Likewise it you were trying to read right to left that would be considered backward. So, to me, the rocker motions in Avant seem backwards. I 've looked under Avant options/mouse and have found gestures configurable, but not the racker action. Perhaps I'm missing something, or perhaps I'm the only person this seems backwards to. Point being, there's rocker action available to Avant users, but it's not configurable (as far as I can tell). Since one of the things I love about Avant is that it can be configured extensively, why not add the ability to configure rocker action as well.
Again, thanks.
Again, thanks.

Re: Mouse Rocker again
How can I make this clearer?
When I want to go back I click the right mouse button then the left button.
When I want to go forward I click the left mouse button then the right button.
When you do that don't you get the same result?

I'm sorry ABman, you were perfectly clear, I didn't read your reply correctly.
No, the rocker action works exactly backwards as you're describing on both my computer at home and at work.

Re: Mouse Rocker again
But that action is what you wanted isn't it? It's not backwards to what you would expect.
You're not left handed are you and have the buttons reversed?

Re: Mouse Rocker again
Wow, I feel as though I've make myself about as unclear as possible at this point.
It's the action you described I would consider as natural. Right/left = back, left/right = forward.
On the 2 computers I use Avant on it works: right/left = forward, left/right = backwards.
Sorry for all the confusion.

I'm with you now, that's really weird. Sorry can't help you there.regis2 wrote:...On the 2 computers I use Avant on it works: right/left = forward, left/right = backwards...
Must be a bug/problem so doesn't need a Request for change.
BTW you aren't left handed are you?

No, not left handed, I checked mouse settings, left is primary button, works as I would like in Firefox.

That's OK. I'd love to know what's causing it. Post back if you find out.

I can't seem to confirm the problem here.
It works as expected here.

Re: Mouse Rocker again
abfan, I believe he would like an option to switch the order of the buttons. for example left to right is back and right to left is forward, works expectedly on a computer with a right hand mouse.
it also works as regis expected, when I swap primary buttons in my mouse settings.
I think for completeness, Avant should include a setting for this. just hard coding it right to left, may make it an inconvienience for the left handed users already using this. some may also prefer it not to change.

Re: Mouse Rocker
addonsfan, I don't think he wants an option to change it (although it would be useful for left-handers). It's just that there's a problem somewhere and he's not getting what's expected.
Of course a new option may help in his case but of course it wouldn't resolve the problem.
