Overwriting a Group
Upto installing latest version, when I created a New Group with the same name as a current group, I was asked whether I wanted to overwrite the existing group. On selecting Yes this replaced the existng sites with the new ones in view. Now, when I do this the sites in view are ADDED to the current group instead of replacing them.

Are you serious about the avatar - which incidentally was sent to me
by my teenage niece and which I use without complaint, and being treated as it's name "Cheeky" suggests, on another Forum!?! Nevertheless if it has caused only one person - you - offence, I will remove it! As for my original post, I thought Moderators were supposed to help with queries! I don't find it an improvement but if it was intended to be I'll just find another way to do what was an easy function. Thanks for the help - Not!!! :[/b]

OK Now I've got rid of my avatar completely - sorry if I've offended anyone's sensibilities - can anyone provide the HELP to my original QUERY that the author states in his automated response "If you are having problem in using Avant Browser, please go to the forum of Avant Browser: http://forum.avantbrowser.com. Moderators in the forum will help you."
I'm still waiting for Help.

I'm not sure if that change was intentional or an error. Anderson, AB's developer, is the only one who can answer that question for sure. We moderators are just users of Avant browser like yourself.
The only "help" I can offer is the option to roll back to an earlier build untill Anderson reads the forum & addresses the issue. Older versions can be found here,
http://avant.it-mate.co.uk/default.asp?c=Download
The latest build has proven to be problematic for many users so this very well may be a bug.

Your rant, which is in dire need of a spell check, doesn't provide enough information. Sergei was trying to gain that information. Upon gaining this vital information, we (the moderators) can help you.
Now, don't rant anymore about not getting help until you provide enough information to allow us to help you.

Okay, let's all be nice...
Arandora, thanks for losing the avatar. It was the combination of that*, and the fact that you posted in the Help forum without saying how we might actually help you, that got my goat. I was abrupt, but we're all volunteers here (it's freeware remember) so we reserve the right to be irritable once every fourteen days.
What you need to do is start a thread in the Discussion forum. If other people disgree with this change, that's where they'll gather.
*It was a small naked male figure, anatomically correct but with the proportions of a cartoon child. It had blue warpaint on its face, and was sucking a pink soother. (?!) Then it turned around and waved its tiny **** in a manner that could only be interpreted as "Hey! I'm waving these buttocks at you!"
I'm sure this is really funny to a young neice. But this grown man found it just plain annoying. As a general rule, ****-waving is never well recieved.

Now you know why I'm a Newbie. First time I've posted for a while so I followed the instructions in the automated response I got to ask a Mod for help if I was having problems with the program. The query I posted is an accurate description of what has happened. Not sure what more I could or can say, except please close the thread and I'll take the constructive advice given and either roll back to a previous version (perhaps rolling back to a previous day and getting up again might be better) or wait for the next release to see if it has been picked up.
PS Hope the spellchecker worked this time!

I think the problem is that this is the Help forum in Avant's forums. So, this usually means that you have a question that needs to be answered. In your original post, you just mentioned what is happening. We could assume that this means you don't want this to happen, but you want the way the older versions did it. But, it is bad for us to assume things.
The way you worded your original post, sounds more like it belongs in the Discussion forum. That you are just talking about how the new version works compared to the older version. I can't really tell if you like the new way or the old way better. That is why Dr, was asking for more information, at least, that is what I think he was saying.

I think it is safe to assume that if someone posts on a Help Forum, they are looking for help. I think it is also safe to assume that if a post ends with a
then it is a query.
However, to make it perfectly clear, firstly I was not being purposely offensive; secondly I wasn't ranting I was responding to Sergei's first reply; finally, can anyone help me use the Group function in the Avant Browser that until the installation of the latest release allowed you to overwrite a group that had, say, become out of date by creating a New Group with the same name? This previously stated that there was already a group of that name and did you want to overwrite it. If you said Yes it replaced all the sites in the existing group by the new ones. Now, even though you say Yes to overwrite it, it adds the new sites to the current ones. Is this now a permanent feature of the Groups function.?
If there is no more to be added to the advice previously given, and that is all I was looking for, advice, not a flame war, then as I suggested in my last post just close this thread please.

Well if it's offering to everwrite the Group and then doesn't, that's clearly a bug. Thanks for the clarification. It does happen exactly as you described.
We can't fix bugs, so this isn't really doing any good in the Help section. I'll move this to the Bug Report forum where hopefully it'll come to the attention of the author.
Until it does, you'll have to edit the Group manually I'm afraid.

Is there a bug fix in the next time to come? I experienced this bug with one of the latest upgrades (now build 167) and even if I like the avant browser I think of using another one because this bug is really annoying.Sergei wrote:Well if it's offering to everwrite the Group and then doesn't, that's clearly a bug.
