Getting rid of IE (Gecko Thread #1)

Post by blahhh123 » Thu Apr 22, 2004 3:27 am

We should be given the option of chosing what bowser you want as your base.
Then avant would be so much better

I presume you mean other engines such as Gekko?, if this was the case, Avant would no longer be Avant .

Certainly an interesting request however.

Opera and Mozilla aren't IE based.

Mozilla is based on Gecko

Opera is based on Gecko also

I'm rather curious due to your last comments.

Are you saying you would like to request Anderson allow both the IE and Gekko engines be available as the base engine for Avant, or just stating that you prefer Opera/Mozilla?

Opera is based on ?? (not IE)
Opera uses the Gekko engine aswell (tis nothing more than a bloated ad-ware version of Mozilla (albeit alot worse))

I think you'll have to put this one directly to Anderson.

Edit

Just a thought, if Anderson does decide to do this (which to be honest, I don't think he will), I'd no longer be able to call AB an IE shell :? , whatever will I do

I would like both engines supported aswell. With two widows side by side or on top of each other, one shows the page using IE's engine and the other uses the Gecko engine.

Now Drrae, what have you been told about dreaming on the job

To be honest, after trying Mozilla, I'm actually glad that Anderson used the IE engine instead. (hated Mozilla almost as much as I hate Opera (and thats damn hard to get near, let alone nearly beat)).
