AB crashes when I click the address bar

Post by sammitch » Sun Feb 08, 2004 3:58 pm

ever since going to version 9 I can't click on my address bar without AB crashing. It's a pretty sudden crash with no error messages and no freezing.

closing every tab also makes AB crash

I'm using build 106. I've tried uninstalling and completely deleting the AB folder before reinstall. I have the newest Java Runtime.

I use XP home service pack 1.

versions before 9 worked perfectly fine. I regret upgrading.

can anyone give me any suggestions?

help?? I'd rather not go back to IE.

No need to go back to IE. MysteryFCM has the lasts version 8 on his website. Did you try deleting your .ini file? If this gets corrupted many problems can happen. The ini is not in the Avant folder. C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Avant Browser.
Application Data is a hidden folder so depending on your settings you might not see it.

Hi, I have the same problem.
Removing ini file did not help at all.
Resinstalling same version is not helping.
I now installed a previous version.
This works.

Does not look very promising for the future.......

Is someone having tips or ideas what it can be?

You might have received a corupt DL, it sometimes happens when Anderson is doing his surprise fixes/upgrades.
Try Uninstalling making sure you delete the ini. and avantbrowser files.
DL clean version from Avant Homepage or even better from Anderson's DL site @ http://www.qwerks.com/download/5337/absetup.exe
Bon Chance.

It seems I leave a bug there when I try to improve the Popup Blocker.

I fixed the bug, but I am not very sure if this bug is related to the Address Bar clicking-crash.

Is there anybody can help me to test if I fixed the bug?

Also, please test the latest beta version:

Looking forward your reports.

Thanks,

I am also experiencing the problems with Avant crashing when I click in the address box or the pulldown arrow. I've also had it crash occasionally when clicking the close all tabs button. I'm using 9.01.113 now.

Using 9.01 build 118 with IE 6.00.2800.1106 (etc...), WinXP SP1 as the OS. I downloaded the setup package from both qwerks & download.com. Same problem with both packages.

I REALLY like Avant and want to use it as my sole browser. I'd love to find out why this happens so I can fix the problem...

Thanks!

Didn't see a rule against bumping in the rules announcement so I didn't know it was a problem. Sorry.

Yes. I've tried everything suggested in this thread and several other threads that don't even relate to this problem. No luck.

Sorry gang but it seems that not too many others have noticed it. As you can see over 400 members reviewed this thread.
I'm sure others are trying to duplicate it.
Have you done The Avant Tip?

Or maybe you got a bad DL try completely uninstalling Avant & re-installing it from the Homepage.
