Orca cannot yet save web pages in MHT format

Post by notestracker » Sat Feb 14, 2009 1:22 am

I like Orca and would use it more (compared with IE-based Avant Browser) because it has most of Avant's productive features and configuration options.

However, I tend not to use Orica very often because there's a missing function, one that I use quite a few times each day under Avant and really cannot do without: in Orca, you cannot save a web page via
Save as type: Web Archive, single-file (*.mht)

Please advise whether Orca will support saving pages in MHT format in a future release.

I use the Mozilla Archive Format extension - works perfectly with Orca to save .mht files.

Thanks for pointing this out. That's the one that I use for Firefox, too, Kudos.

But how do you install if under Orca? (I'm only familiar with installing it under Firefox via the usual Firefox installer interface just by clicking on the Install button.)

Would you please explain for all of us the steps needed to get it working under Orca?

Click on Install MAF 0.9.1.0
Yellow bar appears at top of page asking to install
Click the Allow button on the bar
Click Install in following dialog to install it and restart Orca
Once restarted File -> Save... lists additional formats

OR

Right click on Install MAF 0.9.1.0 and save to computer
Click Tools -> Mozilla Addons to bring up Firefox dialog
Select the Extensions Tab
Drag and drop the downloaded extension onto the dialog
Continue as above

You can change the extension options with Tools -> Mozilla Addons -> Extensions

That's great, allinstalled and working in a snap! It was dead easy, just the same as installing an add-on under Firefox.

I wonder how many of the excellent Firefox add-ons work under Orca. Any ideas?

Many do - but it's very much trial and error. Add-ons that affect the user interface generally tend not to work. I believe that there was a forum post that started listing those that did (not) work - but I prefer to wait until Orca is out of beta before updating that.

There is a list of extensions that work and do not work here but as you can see, it hasn't been updated since the 14th of December.
