I like it. Seems very smooth, very fast and clean. I do wish it have extension & Roboform support though.

All-in-all though a very nice build.

Well it is still early in development so far as deep testing is concerned. Several things are left to be fixed and hopefully added..

For an alpha build, it already seems mature. The download manager seems to default to the Desktop (when you do not use the online storage). I could not find where you can reset it in the program. However, for those who want to default a download to a specific directory (on your own hard drive). Type about:config in the url bar and hit return, then create two new String values with the following names:
browser.download.defaultFolder (use a folder for downloads, e.g. C:\Downloads)
browser.download.dir (use a folder for downloads, e.g. C:\Downloads)
then change the integer from 0 to 2 for the following reference name:
browser.download.folderList

It is really too early to give a complete assessment, but it is thrilling to see the speed of the new Orca. I also notice that it is parsimonious with memory unlike the previous Orca. It is more than worth waiting for.

Boy oh boy am I glad to see some movement on Orca again :D

I have just installed Alpha 2a and man its running nice and fast :D Its great to see the online storage available  but I am missing roboform thought the option is in there for it I guess that will appear as the test goes on.

All in all great job Anderson keep up the good work. =D> =D>

Wow! New Orca! Thank you.

Is there any USB/ZIP version, or is it possible to create a portable version somehow?

A official USB version is not given out for pre-release versions, no. As for making your own I dont know whether you can with Orca or not yet.

It's how I use it.

Like Avant, simply copy the .default folder to Orca's "installation" folder and then move that one to your USB drive.

What about the Orca future? Will be updated at lest from time to time now? I want to use Orca (later), but I don't want to use outdated browser.

Technically, Orca is using a more up to date version of the Gecko engine then Firefox3 is right now. So, I doubt the current release will be out of date for quite awhile. But, don't worry, Orca will have a final release this time. Unlike last time when it got stuck at RC3.

As for the USB version, the reason why I didn't mention the method that Hornakapopolis explained is because I thought that it needed more than just the default folder. I guess I was wrong. Having not tried it myself.

Thanks for the good news.

Creating USB version works good, but I'm using 3 USB versions and when I tried to make a copy of the "install" folder (Orca Browser Plus), I get thiss error message for every new tab. :(

"GetLast Error

XPCom not initialized."

I tried to delete all folders/files inside .default folder, reinstall Orca, restart computer, disable firewall...

So it looks USB version is working, but not the same way as Avant, or is it possible to use more "USB" versions of Orca?

No, Orca is Windows only at present.

Hello everyone - Haven't been here since I traded Avant for Firefox. I'm back for three reasons :

1- If I have the same "revelation" switching from Firefox to Orca as I had when moving from IE to Avant, it's worth being taken into consideration ;

2- Looks like there is already a deal of very positive echoes on the web concerning Orca, even though still in alpha stage ;

3- For trying to find out if Roboform will be included in first final release (August is it?) and also, is it planned to include in future versions ability to add existing Firefox 3 add-ons.

Nice challenge, looks like the baby is going to be just fine.

It's incredibly fast but some things annoy me:

- The panel that pops up on every Flash Object when you have the mouse pointer over it
undone :
- Search should be possible like in Opera : "g Orca Browser" (in adress bar)
- and some "Wand"-features like in Opera (again) would be great

Then I'd definetly switch to Orca... sometimes.

EDIT: Holy Crap! It ALREADY HAS all of these futures

I'm lovin it so far, great work....
So will ANY Firefox extensions work in this? Someone on Lifehacker said they tried, and some worked but not for long....And if you can try, how would you go about it? There isnt any area for add on that I'm aware of....

Well right now extensions are not supported. The extension dialog box is still in the browser but not anyway to manually open it.

OK- And concerning Roboform, I believe it will be supported, is that correct?
