How to turn off Download Manager

Postby notestracker » Sun Feb 10, 2008 12:31 am

I've currently been using Avant version 11.6 Build 04 without any issues whatsoever.

At times I'd like to completely completely turn off the new Download Manager feature of Avant. (Sometimes it gets in the way of other things that I'm trying Io achieve.)

The change log for 11.6 Build 02 has an entry saying that you can switch on/off the Download Manager, but I've looked in vain where to do this. Can anybody tell me where this option resides?

Uncheck Tools -> Downloads -> Options -> Capture file download. If it's unchecked, check it and then uncheck it.

The download manager still interferes with some files, like gmail attachments.

try enabling and disabling it again. there seems to be some bug that makes you have to do it twice.

Define "interferes."

usually when you want to OPEN Gmail attachments, you MUST save them now!
( because the download manager ) - If you press CANCEL, instead of the manager , it gives you the WINDOWS SAVE FILE.

Usually we want just to open them - from the TEMP dir. - as much as I liked the idea of d.manager I came back to 11.5

Uncheck Tools -> Downloads -> Options -> Capture file download. If it's unchecked, check it and then uncheck it. I did it but after this, NO OPEN/SAVE/CANCEL box - its goes to save AUTOMATICALLY!

I find the download manager doesnt work a lot of the time where a file is generated on the fly. This is most commonly found with pdfs which include personal data obtained from server which are then downloaded to you. Its fine with static links though.

It either refuses to download the file by any means or just does nothing.
