Possible fix for slow response in Avant

Post by dezzo » Tue Jun 06, 2006 10:55 pm

For those of you finding Avant to be sluggish or using a lot of CPU check out this Microsoft article if you're using XP SP2.

- CPU utilization reaches 100 percent when you run programs after you install Windows XP Service Pack 2
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=890582

Check your "user32.dll" and "win32k.sys" file versions in the \WINDOWS\system32 folder and if either version is lower than 5.1.2600.2643, that may be your problem.

Since I installed that HotFix, Avant is not slow anymore.
Notice in the article is mentioned the "IsWindow function"... I've no idea what that means, but Avant opens a lot of tab windows so maybe there is some conneciton there.

This is taken right from the article, folks...

As a further update, that Hotfix did make my system more reponsive, however Avant is still using a lot of CPU so there's still some unresolved problem there.
