Post by Mastertech » Mon Mar 20, 2006 10:51 pm

I just wanted to mention that the new tabs in the latest build are very nicely done. I really like the integrated page loading bar, nice work. :D

They are much better than the "buttons" on previous versions

i have some complain ~~~ ~_~"

i tend to accidently click on the "close" icon whenever i selecting taps..
it mades my page gone suddenly and i can't remember what page was that.!

i prefer closing it by double clicking on it. the small "close" icon is useless or it should able to disable by default~

anyway. nice one! it's speeding!!

The new close X button should be removable.
It's caused me to close a few pages by mistake as well.

I would also like to be able to turn off the highlighting that appears when you hover your mouse over the tabs.
That throws me off, because it looks similar to the hightlighting on the active tab.

I like the new FavIcon display and the page load indicators.

I'm noticing the same problem with the new tabs, i.e. when the mouse hovers over a tab it takes on the same color as the active tab which is confusing. It would be better to just have the mouse activate the small X for closing the tab without changing it's color. Also, why do tabs sometimes have a dash line underneath the text label? Thanks for listening!

When do you see a dotted line, I only see a solid line. The solid (well empty going to solid) is the page loading bar.

When you "save all open pages and exit", you will see the dotted line under the tab names when you open Avant Browser again. It only goes away after you click on that tab with the dotted line but this can be annoying when you have alot of tabs open. Hope you can turn this off along with the X.

Edit:Just found out you also get the dotted line after you refresh a page and move onto another tab before the page is finished refreshing.

I love the new tabs but I agree that there should be settings to turn the tab highlighting and the X on, off, or leave it like it is now.

Great job on Avant!

Which underlines? The bold one when the mouse hovers over the tab, or the perforation when a new, unviewed out of focus tab has finished loading?

I think that the perforated underlining indicates that the page in the tab has been refreshed and there are differences as they only appear in the tab when new & finished loading, but not when refreshed with no changes on the page. If this is the case, then I am all for the underlining.

I think that Anderson is listening to us and he will add it to the next major version of Avant Browser. It is not possible just now, because process of adding new options / checkboxes to Avant Browser Options needs to do some translations (see Interface Languages). Now it is only possible to make changes which don't need any translations.

I really like the new tabs, too, although I do agree that something else should be done with the active tab.

I think we should remember that any ideas of "shading" or a use of color will depend on the skin being used.

I love the progress bar in the tab, too.

As much as a do like the new tabs, I'd quite like the ability to use an older versions tab style. See, I often have many tabs open at one time (****, at the moment I have between eight and ten that I never close, and are saved on close) and these new tab styles force me onto a second line of tabs a lot quicker than normal, and I'm not really happy with that as it begins to really cut in on the browsing space I like to have.

Also, the X was also a problem for me. As it is, I've downgraded back to 10.1 because I wasn't happy with the usability of the new tab design for me. I think getting rid of the X's and taking it back to how many tabs could fit across one bar would be very nice.

I too dislike the new tabs. I use a skin called Sofa King and the new tabs look awful in it. I also find it a bit more difficult to notice a new tab. I do like the little bit of extra space at the end, this makes it easier to double click the tab bar to get a new tab.

I like 10.2 build 25 except that the tabs are just a bit too high now; I preferred the way they were. I use Font Size large and they are now about twice the height of the status area.
