Avant Browser 2006

Post by Anderson » Wed Jan 18, 2006 4:01 am

Hi Everybody,

I am focusing on Avant Browser 2006, and may not come here very often.

Avant Browser 2006 is a major update, internal version is 11.0.

Orca will be offical released right after Avant Browser 2006, and comes with all new features of Avant Browser 2006.

If you have any suggestion for the new browsers, please post here.

Sorry for the absence.

Anderson

Do not ask for a time frame concerning when it is being released. It will be released when it is done. -DrDrrae

Make it as reliable as older versions of Avant 10.1 build 23 or below.

These new versions are erractic and the forums have been filled with complaints and problems, I'd like to be able to upgrade in the near future without worrying about what won't work.

Fewer features and more stability is better IMO.

Please take this as a constructive request.

I would like to see an option on top of each Favorite folder "Add URL Here". My Favorites menu is huge and it is inconvinient for me to add a URL in some deep location.

Also, when we click on the Undo button, when clicked once, the very last closed page should re-open by default and the pages in that menu (the Undo) menu should open up in a new tab. You would also have a little drop down arrow on the Undo button that shows the rest of the closed pages just like it is at the moment. :D

To be honest with you, WebGuy, based on forum usage and postings, the last year's (2005) worth of Avant builds have been very stable and bug-free. Many of the problems posted are not bugs. Most are improper set-up, blocking/firewall problems, Java/Javascript problems, etc.

On my systems, it's been about 2 years since I experienced a real bug with Avant. That was version 9.xx that was causing excessive CPU usage. Somewhere in the followning builds it was cured. I haven't experienced any problems to speak of with Avant since then.

Every system is different. This is what makes troubleshooting users' problems so difficult for us here at the forum sometimes.

Knowing Anderson's committment to this application, I'm sure that there will be many improvements in 2006. Stay tuned...

Regards,

~Eric

I've never experienced any major problems with Avant Browser 10.1 as well.
Biggest problem that I've experienced was the problem with the popups blocker in build 37.
But it's fixed with builds 38-40.
I've never experienced any stability problems with Avant Browser.
I'm able to run it without closing weeks long with 20+ tabs opened all the time and it will still remain stable and fast on my system.

As for the feature suggestion,
That would be very nice if plugins support were added.
Minor feature request :
Please add confirmation on exit.
IE8(Pro), Microsoft Security Essentials
Main PC:

Secondary PC same as primary but with Windows 7 x64 Ultimate as the OS.

What about Create New Favorite in This Folder?

Yes that's what I mean, either wording is fine as long as it does the job :)

Make it able to use plugins! Something like FF extensions or better like Maxthon plugins :)

Enhanced drag & drop - that you can open new links by simply dragging and dropping the link on the page.

Edit: yea it's called super drag & drop :)

In AB, just drag the link to the edge of the window, not as good as some competitor browsers. I do support your idea. Also another good idea is to select some text and drag it a bit and drop it and the selected text gets searched by google or yahoo in a new tab.

I'd like to see:

The "Google-bar"-type buttons on the search bar being added to the address bar, so that I could do all my searching from the address bar and never need to display the search one.

Mystery and DrDrrae's very sensible extensions bundled as options.

A "Blog this"-type button.
