Two problems: Font size and TinyUrl

Post by vicntc » Thu Jul 28, 2005 3:01 am

Okay, here goes...

Windows XP SP2
Avant Browser v10.1 Build 17 (but it started a few versions ago)
Windows XP Firewall behind Netgear Router

1. Font Size drop down. I set it to Medium but every time I launch AB, it gets reset to Small. How do I get AB to leave it alone and have it stay at Medium?

2. TinyURL. This web site offers a nifty toolbar add-on that allows you to click on a button and automatically create a Tiny URL for sending in email (and not getting mangled by the reader).

http://tinyurl.com/#toolbar

It's javascript and works fine from both the Favourites menu and Toolbar in IE.

Is there something I can enable in AB to let this launch properly from the toolbar?

The error states:

Action canceled
Internet Explorer was unable to link to the Web page you requested. The page might be temporarily unavailable.

Regarding the font problem, I have set the size to medium and Avant properly remembers it (WinXP Pro SP2, Avant 10.1.17), as it has always done as far as I can remember.

Regarding the text size, I'd be willing to bet that you're having this issue in IE, too, as this has been brought up before in this thread. (And, I've experienced it, too, myself.)

If you're having the same trouble we had, I think you'll find that it's an IE issue, which means it's not something Anderson Che, Avant's developer, could correct. Also, he probably would have a hard time making a decent workaround without knowing what is causing the issue in the first place.

Sorry, but I can't provide any help on the TinyURL issue. Maybe someone else will come along.

...and, welcome to the forum!

Okay, that seems to beeen the same thing alright. I did do a search first however I used Font size not text size for the key words. Thanks for finding that.

Is the TinyURL thing something I should report as a bug?

Do you have Avant set to open favorites in a new window? If so, that is you problem.
