How many of you are using links bar?

Post by desireco » Fri Jul 01, 2005 8:03 pm

Hi,

I always avoided using links bar, but recently I started using it. Soon I wanted to use bookmarklets but somehow when I add them they are not working. I tried with WordPress, then del.icio.us bookmarks but somehow they are not working. I am sure this is something very simple so if you could suggest solution it would be great.

BTW I use Avant for several years now and it is better side of IE.

Thank you,
Zeljko Dakic

The Links bar gets it's entries from the Links folder under favorites. I don't believe there is the 3rd party program that is useful here.

I've never found the Links bar useful. All the pages I visit regularly open at startup.

Make sure Avant is not set to automatically open favorites in new tabs. Then the bookmarklets should work.

I use the links bar. couldnt live without it. It wouldn't make much sense to have these favorites open on start up as I have 93 links in my links bar. My links bar is set up with labeled folders (bills, forums, sports, shopping, news, e-mail, etc...) and each folder contains a number of links. Quite helpful.

So when you click on a folder in the links bar, does it open like a dropdown menu?

I've never tried it before, but it looks like it might be quite useful.

Works great. Depending on the length of what you call each folder, you could get 15-25 folders on the links bar and an Unlimited amount of links per folder.

Yes, nice, you can use also subfolders...

However, I still miss drag&drop feature here - more here - Drag & drop favorites to save (to Links or Favorites) - direct link to my suggestion (if you like it, please support it).

You learn something every day, I knew about this but until I saw it I never thought about it as so usefull. I just have to get used to open new window for each link. Would be usefull if we would have some checkbox 'open in new window' but I guess this can't be made unles it is planned in IE.

Thanks Wombat and all.

You can use:

- Right click and Open in new window

or

- Avant Browser Options > New Window > Always create a new window for: Favourites

MMB click doesn't work here :(
