Exporting Bookmarks

Post by usafstars » Sun Feb 08, 2015 12:55 am

Hi,
Is there any way to export bookmarks so that they can be used with different browsers? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It's in a different location depending on your setup. If you use Avant's default layout, hit the menu button in the upper right and then choose Export Bookmarks... to save your bookmarks as an HTML file that all browsers use to import bookmarks.

If you're using an old skin (not preceded with Stickers or Opal in its name) then try File -> Export Bookmarks...

To import, it will depend on your new browser. If it doesn't give you an HTML option, try choosing its option to import from Firefox.

Thank you for the help, unfortunetly I can't find the Menu button. On the top in the right side I have: File, View, Bookmarks, AutoFill, Tools, Help. Under File all I can find is "Import"...I am using the Windows Traditional Skin. I've looked everywhere but can't find anything that say Export....might I have a setting that is hiding it? Again, thanks for the quick reply.

There's nothing in Avant that allows the hiding of menu items, so that's not it.

If you're using the Windows Traditional Skin, then you're not going to see a "menu" button because it's an old skin. The old skins do not have Stickers or Opal at the beginning of their name.

What is the item just below Import... on your File menu? That should be Export Bookmarks.

He's probably using IE favourites, then you don't get any "export bookmarks"

#-o Ah! Variation 684 of Avant, of course!

So, the export option within IE would have to be used. Also, most browsers these days are setup to import IE's favorites automatically, too, so unless you want export, it's probably not even necessary.

Nederpietos, thanks. I was using IE Bookmarks and didn't realize that would keep me from exporting my AB Bookmarks. Just wanted to save all of them incase the hard drive fails. Thanks for all the help!!!!!

TO be clear, for anyone that happens upon this thread in the future... those are two different things.

A better way to put it would be that Avant only exports its own bookmarks. It will not export IE's Favorites, even if the user is using them in Avant instead of Avant's bookmarks.
