Floating toolbar (pictures) missing options

Post by G3n7r0 » Tue Oct 09, 2012 3:13 pm

Hi,
I'll try to keep this as concise as possible.

Avant Browser Ultimate b182, Windows XP SP 3 (32 bit), IE8, Avant's floating toolbar looks like this:
avantbrowser1.JPG
avantbrowser1.JPG (20.45 KiB) Viewed 5987 times
Avant Browser Ultimate b182, Windows 7 SP 1 (64 bit), IE9, Avant's floating toolbar looks like this:
avantbrowser2.jpg
avantbrowser2.jpg (14.01 KiB) Viewed 5987 times
So, to my question, is this normal, or is the installation of Avant on Win7 borked?

I'm particulary missing the 'auto resize' image option the WinXP toolbar has.

Thanks.

I have never seen the three buttons no matter in xp or win7. Is it possible that it comes from a software you installed?

I guess it's possible, but since I pretty much use the same software on both setups, and since that toolbar is Avant's integrated feature I find it unprobable.

Anyway, let me rephrase the question then, under which circumstances do those (missing) icons (options) appear?

Gosh, on my XP machine with IE8 I only have 7 options under the picture floating toolbar. Now I want to know how you pulled that off. lol

For those options to appear your default image viewer has to be the Windows default one (Windows Pictures and Fax Viewer).

So no Irfanview, Farstone.. or whatever. As soon as you install one of the other picture viewers those options dissappear.

Not Cool.

Apparently XnView don't do anything for it either, that's my default image viewer....

So any way to force those options to appear? Despite having other image viewers installed, windows photo viewer is still installed.

Implemented in avant browser 2012 build 191.

The three buttons only appear when the link is an image, this one for example: http://www.avantbrowser.com/pr/icon.png

Ofcourse.

As far as I can deduce, the icons appear only if you're using google chrome or firefox rendering.

Icons do not appear for me at all (tested on two different machines one XP SP 3, other Win7 64bit SP1) on any type of IE rendering.

For example http://newevolutiondesigns.com/images/f ... aper-1.jpg , icons only appear on google chrome or firefox rendering. Tried IE8, IE9 and IE compatible.

Is this normal?

We tested it in the Virtual machine, no problem with IE engine.
Do you use any add-on that may conflict with it? Try to disable all your extensions under IE engines.

Is the language of your operate system English?

Hi,
no addons were enabled (on both systems).
Just to be sure I tried a complete clean reinstall (with removing profile folder), and still there are no icons with any
of the IE rendering options.

Yes OS language is english (regional settings were not, but changing them to english/united states made no difference).

The issue is, you probably did not try installing any of the 3rd party image viewers on your VM OS. Try installing IrfanView on your VM OS and then I guarantee the floating bar options will disappear on IE rendering.

I installed IrfanView, the three buttons are still available under IE engine in the VM OS.
We will look into it since not only one user have the problem.

Can uninstalling the image viewer make them show up?
I still suspect it's a non-english system issue. After opening the start menu, do all menus display in English in your machine?

Yes, the behavior is same as before (with the exception of Chrome and Firefox rendering, installing and uninstalling has no effect there, the icons/options are always there).

So, yes, uninstalling Irfanview makes the icons/options appear, installing it back makes them disappear. This is true for my WindowsXP Pro SP3, (IE8, IE compatible), and on my Windows7 (IE9, IE compatible).

Note, my win7 configuration is also in english, can't make the screenshot right now, you gotta believe me on that one :).
