Only IE engine works in Ultimate Build 16

After I installed Ultimate Build 16, any page I try to open with either the Firefox engine or the Chrome engine causes an immediate Application Error and the chosen engine (either firefox.exe or chrome.exe) immediately crashes. If i change the default rendering engine to IE8, all the sites I've tried so far load properly.

Are you sure it's 2012 ultimate build 16? This version doesn't have chrome engine.

Help | About says 2012 build 16. I installed over the top of alpha 103, so maybe the installer doesn't do a good job of removing and/or replacing previously existing files.

Please try to uninstall Avant browser completely and then reinstall it to see whether there is any difference (Don't forget to backup your data)
I use the same way as you to install build 16, but the firefox and chrome engine both work here.

Ok, I unistalled Avant and reinstalled build 16. The Chrome engine no longer appears in the Default Rendering Engine menu, but when I choose the Firefox engine, firefox.exe still crashes 100% of the time. This didn't happen with Alpha 103.

Also, and this may have nothing to do with uninstalling and reinstalling Avant, all of the Avant forum pages load VERY slowly now. The other sites I've tried so far seem to load at "normal" speed. Maybe this is just a coincidence, but the forum pages were loading quickly until I uninstalled and reinstalled Avant build 16.

I may have to go back to alpha 103 until this gets resolved. I can't use it the way it is in 16.

Where can I download alpha 103? All the existing links seem to point to either build 16 or alpha 107, and I'm having the same problem with alpha 107 when I install it as I was having with build 16.

This is nuts. Firefox (the full browser) runs fine, but the firefox engine used in Avant crashes every time.

If remove the profile folder mozilla and avant profiles(back them up before removing) and restart ultimate build 16 or pre-alpha 107 will it make a difference? Especially the mozilla folder i suspect there is a confliction.

Go to windows Start menu and input %appdata% and press enter you'll see the folders avant profiles and mozilla

It didn't make any difference. Firefox.exe still crashes.

1. Can disabling all firefox extensions in avant browser fix the problem? tools->mozilla firefox->add-ons->extensions
2. Only pre-alpha 102 is available now. See whether it makes a difference.

I'm curious about this, because after completely uninstalling 2012 build 16 and reinstalling it, the chrome engine is available, and it works (after replacing the avantshell.dll file with one of the ones you sent).

Hi Mark,

Thank you for confirming the problem was fixed.

But in the new version, we have to use the codes that brought the issue, we re-write those codes and released a new tri-core version. Could you please try our latest tri-core version, see if the new codes don't have the old problem?

Thank you very much
