Changes:
New Option: Hold [Ctrl] to show the floating toolbar. If you don't hold the Ctrl key, the floating toolbar will not display.
Adjusted Multi-Column menu display.
Some other minor tweaks/polish.

I switched from 10.0 starting with Beta7, and I've seen very sluggish performance and huge memory usage. I even got a VM warning from XP on my Dual Xeon + 1GB machine! I just started a new instance of Avant, browsed thru about 100 pages, and my memory usage is a reasonable 30344k but my VM size is 1023440k!

So, not sure if it is my install or just a problem in the new code, but 10.1 stinks for me... sorry

For me with this beta: Minimizing, then restoring causes Avant to cover Windows taskbar again. This happens in compact view. I will check normal view momentarily

Great job once again. I love the new folder munu arrangement. 2 colums instead of 3. Nice! I love you man

Edit:

I just noticed in AB Beta 9 that everytime I completely close & restart AB, that "Getting Started" menu pops up. A bug? Can anybody duplicate?

Just wanted to report that.. I installed Beta 9 from beta 8.. and then tried to click on a feed in the feed menu.. and it had moved.. so it told me it couldnt find it.. But when i tried to type in a website on the same tab it thought it was a feed.. so i had to close the tab to beable to surf.. is that a bug?

So forgive me if i post this in the wrong spot. I am really enjoying the new features of the new Beta 9 over the current formal version (Compact view, mouse gestures, extra tab features, etc).

However, I can't figure out the floating toolbar hiding trick that you mention in Beta 9. How does it work? I know how to pull out a toolbar and make it "float", but the {Ctrl} button doesn't do anything. Maybe I'm missing a step. Any suggestions?

Mindlikewater... The floating toolbars refer to the toolbars that appear when you hover over an image, flash animation, or selected text with your mouse. With the new option enabled, you must hold the CTRL key in order for these toolbars to appear.

Thank you! Now I know what you are referring to. I forgot that I had disabled the floating toolbars previously. So, now I am trying those toolbars again knowing that I have this option with a push of the Ctrl button. Nice touch.

I am really enjoying Avant, keep up the great work.

servere problem! my system become very unstable after installing beta 9, BSOD a few times, prefer to go back to beta 7 first.

I got some very strange behavior on first installing, but that might have been something to do with changing the executable name before running. Wiping the Conf.ini fixed it.

I'm still getting the option to view an image in Avant though, which doesn't do anything.
