add-on 'web mirror view'

Post by Kand.in.Sky » Tue Aug 21, 2012 9:38 pm

does anyone use this add-on? it should be called cache-view
Web Mirror Viewer displays various internet mirrors of an open tab or right-clicked link via the right-click context menu.
google, bing, coral, webarchive

unfortunately it does not work with Avant 2012 180, gecko engine. not if all mirrors are selected or just one of them.
it does not open a new tab, the search start in the same tab and you cannot go back in history.
thats really annoying, cause it did work well in ORCA.

so, is this an Avant bug or just incompatibility?

It's incompatibility I think.

Just remember, it's a plug-in for Firefox, not Avant. Remember what Jasmine said:
Hi, Avant Browser can't guarantee compatible with all firefox addons. The compatibility issue is always decided by both sides, the addon {and} the browser. It's likely that the framework of avant makes many addons in-executable or the addon is only designed for firefox browser.
It would be nice if the authors of all these nifty plug-ins would take Avant into consideration when they code, but they don't. Either laziness or just don't give a care..... #-o

in the bug-forum was an explanation posted, please read.

none of *any* add-ons which opens new tabs will ever work in AVANT 2012.

this and the "link goes wrong"-bug let me migrate back to ORCA. Except it is a little bit lame on JS it's clearly better than AVANT 2012. It even starts faster with about +70 tabs.

Obviously, because of the current feamework of Avant, this kind of add-ons don't work. I wanna ask, will the Avant 2013 versions change the framework? From what we have experienced, the current framework caused some problems when using add-ons/ toolbars.

I'm afraid as long as the multi-process design exits, the extensions couldn't find the right process to open new tabs.

Please provide the following information before reporting problems:
Avant Version; System(also point out it is a 32 or 64-bit OS);IE; Memory Size; CPU Speed;
Optional: Firewall; Graphics Card

For the problems hard to replay, could you add me into your MSN or Skype list if you use either of them? The advantage is that you can let us know the situation in the first place by making some screenshots, sharing your screen or explaining the specific problems more clearly when they happen.

Is that correct Jasmine, "exits"? Or should it be "as long as the multi-process design exist"? I'm not playing dictionary king or anything, I hate it when someone acts as a self appointed editor on a forum, I'm just kind of confused.... :? (Which happens quite often).....

reading from the context it was mean "exist" not "exits".

cheers,
