Avant 2012 browser version naming confusion

I don't check every day, so just saw Jasmine's announcement and upgraded to Avant 2012 build 21 (released Jan 20th, 2012), thinking that it was the very latest version "faster than a speeding bullet and able to leap over tall buildings in a single bound" as the saying goes. [I run this using Firefox rendering mode.]

But then I noticed Anderson's announcement of Avant Browser 2012 Ultimate pre-alpha 112 (released Jan 21st, 2012) and had second thoughts. So I installed this version, without really understanding the numbering scheme and exactly if how much different this "pre-alpha 112" version is from "build 21" -- and if it was the right thing to do to install the former over the latter.

So I'm obviously confused abut these different versions released with a day of each other, and guess that other people might be too. Or am I the only one? Perhaps the summer heat wave down here in Australia is affecting my thinking processes.//

So my question is, exactly what are the difference in features and benefits between Avant Browser 2012 Ultimate pre-alpha 112 (released Jan 21st, 2012) versus Avant Browser 2012 build 21 (released Jan 20th, 2012)? And, can such differences be better pointed out in future?

build 21 (ultimate) includes IE and Firefox and is relatively stable. The other (pre-alpha 112) has Chrome in addition and is buggier.

What's the purpose/advantage for adding Chrome (isn't the Firefox rendering engine sufficient)?

No, the FF engine is not sufficient. Considering that Chrome's WebKit rendering engine and V8 javascript engine are faster than FF's Gecko/SpiderMonkey, adding Chrome rendering is critically important!

And it also provides a third rendering reference using the remaining major open-source engine to use for cross-browser development and testing.

I really like the pre-alpha 112 edition. I use it with Chrome as the default rendering engine and I find that ebay motors doesn't hangup or freeze like the "stable" version. When I set the pre-alpha engine to IE or FF though, ebay motors freezes and I get a "not responding" message and have to close out of everything and restart Avant. Granted, it's a limited test, but I like it and will keep the pre-alpha using Chrome as the default.

I too am confused by all the different versions. I have a busy life and not enough time to dig through the forums to find information about each and the forums personally are a disorganized mess. To even find the information about Avant 12 you have to find the announcement post called "An update to my dearest users". Not that the title isn't sweet and all but it's just too vague. Make the title "Next generation Avant 12.0" and then put the original title inside that post.

Why not have a single top sticky thread which says 'Avant Force Browsers" or even just "Avant Brower FaQs" and have somewhere in there that clearly states the differences between the ones in development. I personally agree the naming scheme is wonky. Just because something is tri-engine doesn't mean everyone agrees it would be 'Ultimate' (which is why you're making two in the first place). I think Avant _____ with something like greek names would be more ideal but hey that's just me.

I guess I am somewhat old-fashioned, but I prefer to use IE9 rendering engine with build 21.
