Why can't you restore the url alias? Can't Backup/Restore Profiles feature work?(Toos->Backup/Restore Profiles )

That could be temporarily. Did you try to log in via Avant and Orca in the same time? Orca succeeded but Avant failed?

So, if Orca will be merged with Avant in 2011, will Orca will completely go away and we'll have to transfer everything to Avant (or any other browser)? Or will Orca stay and just not be updated?

(Sorry to hear Orca's not being continued, BTW. We really like it.)

(And changing the skin doesn't affect how this page is displayed, unless I'm missing something...)

Thanks

Are there any time tables for testing and developing these specific improvements? With the year naming convention it's hard to get an idea of what's considered milestones with throughout the year. I always like how FF and other projects put deadlines on certain features or developments and try to meet them in order to keep things better structured and an organized community involvement. I'd just like to hear what we can expect in the next month, months or 6 months from now rather than just "2011". It would be useful in spurring community effort to make Avant as good as possible by continuously sharing development plans and progress with more clarity.

-Cheers

Right now, Avant is the buggiest and most annoying browser I've ever used. The best thing you could do would be to put new-feature development on temporary hold and concentrate on bug fixes. Identify the bugs that are in segments of code that you don't anticipate changing anytime soon, and get those bugs (and maybe some of the most egregious and annoying bugs that are in code segments you do anticipate changing soon) taken care of before going back to development efforts on new features.

I'm hoping to stay with Avant, as it's still my favorite browser, or it was when it worked reasonably well. I know I could temporarily go back to 11.7 B46, but that's almost a year old now, so I keep installing the new builds, hoping that each one will bring it back to a level where it feels more like a beta than an alpha. I don't have much hair left as it is, and Avant makes me want to pull the rest out!

Hi!

I like Orca, but the old-newest version has problems with some new gadgets, such as the newest version of Roboform.

Anyone care to hazard a wild guess as to the release date of some version, even a beta, of the new Avant+Orca?

Thanks.
C.

I was told "not that far away"... a little over a month ago. I think it's anyones best guess at this point. Could be in a week or in months. Seeing as there's no projected release date /timeframe for anything, it's really hard to tell.

Great news, I'd move #7 to #0. ;)

I need some Orca-only features, so it's really important for me. I'm waiting more than 5 years for Gecko engine and almost 3 years for the final version of Orca, so now I just need to know...

WHEN?

I too would love to see an Alpha/Beta posting of the Gecko build of Avant. I've been using Orca for years now instead of Avant due to the IE6 rendering engine (and forwards) because I've found that Gecko works a lot better with most websites that I visit.

That said, I would be remiss if I didn't point out that I just tried the IE9 Avant build linked here and GOOD LORD that thing loads pages fast.

I did find that if you click away from the window, the Aero glassy graphics on Avant disappear until you click back on the Title Bar. Just coming back to the program isn't enough you have actually click the Title Bar itself.

Is there an ETA for alpha/beta release of Avant 2011?

I would like to volunteer for alpha/beta testing but I don't visit these boards too often. This way I can check back around the time of ETA to see if you guys need help with alpha/beta testing. Given that Avant 11.7 and the last Orca have formed the basis of my browsing experience for many years now, I would really like to be able to give back to the project by volunteering to help in identifying any bugs, and by contributing relevant ideas.

I am interested in taking part in the process that will make Avant 2011 a better browser than Avant 11.7.

Thanks in advance for your response.

Sincerely,
Faken Jones.
