I've got to ask this again

Post by ABman » Wed Sep 01, 2010 9:05 pm

After closing down Avant why does the egg-timer cursor still show for about 2 seconds? I'm sure it never used to do this in the 'good old days'. It's the only browser I've used that does this.

Actually, I'm having this since 11.7. Anyway, I never thought about it as a big issue.

I don't think it's a big issue either but I would still like to know what it's doing. It would be preferable if it left the Avant window there until it had completely finished.
On my laptop I quite often close the browser and immediately close the lid. With Avant I wait until the cursor eggtimer has stopped.

I touched upon this subject way back, maybe couple of years ago in a thread in one of the avant forums.

I was using then and now Avant 11_0 Build 46.

It does not affect the operation of the browser. Only for maybe a second and a half upon closing the browser.

It appears the browser is not released immediately.

Do either of you clear records when Avant closes? I'm pretty sure that was one of the main culprits back in v10, where I think it was a known issue.

Yes, I clear several records on close.

My first guess is that it's that. You could test by having Avant open with no tab, close it, and reopen it.

Or, sometime when you've been browsing awhile, clear the record before you have Avant exit.

I just tried this but the cursor still had the egg-timer for a second or two after closing.
I also tried closing all tabs before close and it didn't make any difference.
