The website has a copyright notice from 1999 so perhaps it's even older.
Anderson of course will be able to tell you.
Wikipedia says first release 2004!

I stand corrected. Maybe only 6 years.
I wonder how many users there are?

I wish I could remember how I came to use Avant.
I never talk to anyone who has heard of it.
Too bad because it's the best.

I assume the 23,989 is the number of forum members.

I wonder how many browser users the are?
Forum members are probably only a small fraction of the users.

Does anyone know how many have downloaded the browser?
Or a guess?

What method is Avant using to get known or is it just word of mouth??

Avant first appeared as IE-Opera & was changed to Avant after Opera claimed name proprietary rights. I joined here on Thu Nov 27, 2003 7:45 pm after years of just being a guest & it had been a proggie since c1999, I believe. mariuz on Tue Oct 29, 2002 10:10 pm is the current Oldest registered member, other than the admin which was recorded as Sun Dec 31, 2000 11:01 pm to setup this forum.
To-date over 22 million have down loaded it & still counting & Yes it is primary by word of mouth that it spreads.

IE-OPERA 6.5 I believe was the last to use this name. It was promoted like this:
IE Opera 6.5.1

Freeware IE Opera, an opera of Internet Explorer, is a fast, stable, user-friendly, versatile multi-window browser. IE Opera allows user to browse multiple Web sites simultaneously and block all unwanted pop-up pages. All opened pages can be easily stopped, refreshed, closed or arranged with one click. The integrated cleaner helps user to clear all traces and keep privacy. Built-in Google search engine enables user to search for web pages and images in Internet.
Hope that this helped a bit.
