Oh, Avant staying a one engine browser is much better and it's my preference! After all, adding the extra coding to handle multiple engines, switching, etc. is only another form of unwanted bloat. (I only listed the multi-engine browsers for completeness. :-) )

I can use Orca if I want Gecko engine (and I do prefer Orca over Avant).

If I want to use WebKit engine, well, I'll have to use a non-Avant Force option.

I've been alpha-testing Maxthon 3.0 and it does not feel bloated whatsoever.

I guess its just the idea and the perception of having another engine and all the code that goes along with it, would just sound like it would make it bloated, even if it didnt actually.

Perhaps this thread should be closed as it's been over a year now.

So? Progress is slow that's nothing new...

And who said anything about 12's development being discontinued that would warrant such closure? :problem:

I was also being sarcastic...

Wonder if there are some Italians on this task?
There's a popular expression over there: "domani, domani"!
Tomorrow, tomorrow!

I would imagine with the major changes planned, it would be an entirely new browser in compairison to version 11. It's like taking all the features version 11 has aquired over the years, and deciding to completely rewrite them.

Jasmine left a note about Avant 12 in the Build 42/43 release topic:

statm1,

If users knew or had a better idea what coders go through, perhaps they'd be less demanding.
In the meantime though, browsers like Google Chrome are going steady and gaining momentum from what i can see.

Will AVANT12 be another Webkit based browser? If so, then with Maxthon3 already on the road for a while now, i think the task is going to be quite the challenge!

Oh Im pretty sure most users do not know what its like developing a project from the ground up but it is wrought with delays due to unforeseen problems. You go about developing a new feature and then sometimes bugs popup in other areas because of that development so you have to stop what your doing and see why that bug popped up and then go about fixing it and then go back to developing that new feature and its a cat and mouse game like that..

Also, I'm guessing you didn't read this but no Avant 12 will stay a one engine browser. It will be sticking with Trident. In my opinion Avant needs to stay a one engine browser. However I would not be opposed to a separate webkit browser made by Avant Force.

Thanks for the update, I overlooked the release notes on that last one.

And I am aware of what they go through, but I'm also aware there arent nearly as many people working on this project as any other well known browser so that's also part of it. In any case, it would be nice to get a nice Christmas or New Years present. =D>

It would be nice to have something to play with over the holiday's yes.

By the way, is your profile just not up to date or are you still using RC1 of Orca 1.1. Since we are way into 1.2 with 4 builds past the final build.

I haven't updated it. I stopped using Orca a while ago due to no Roboform support.

I doubt that is a new guess of May 2010. From reading that page using a different translator I'm guessing he thought it was coming in May 09 since thats when the topic was made.

If you read this post though: http://forum.avantbrowser.com/viewtopic ... 61#p163861

Kudo's to Kudos!
Thanks man!

I got Roboform working in Orca now and can make the switch over from Avant. :)

Now if only I could get back my precious fixed/adjustable-width tab's and things would be like the good old days.

Also just a little thing I noticed in the latest Orca is that the 'Orca Browser Forum' link is broken, along with the 'user forum' on the Orca main page.
