How should I use Avant to remember my logins and passwords on webseits?

Post by romulus » Fri Aug 12, 2016 8:28 pm

I do intuitively understand that AutoFill should automatically suggest any remembered passwords after Avant has asked to preserve them, but I cannot see them.

While I next time visit the same website, I have to introduce the same login and the same password; Avant suggests nothing.

Maybe, I have to change something in Auto-Fill or Auto-Complete options?

I have never been a fan of Auto-Complete, so someone else will have to give you details on how to get that to automatically insert saved info.

But for clarity's sake, I'll add that Auto-Complete & Avant's AutoFill are two different things. Avant's AutoFill doesn't automatically insert your saved information. It just saves it in its list and you select it much like a bookmark. When you use it like a bookmark, however, it will fill in and submit your saved information.

Hi, hornakapopolis

Thanks for the lines that took your time.
I couldn't differentiate between the both things.
I understand that is more preferable not to preserve passwords on any machine.
However, I would like to be aware of how to do so.

I can see that your preferred engine is Chrome.
In Default Rendering Engine options in Tools, I can see only Mozilla Firefox, IE Compatible and IE Standard; no Chrome.
Why?

IE8 on my machine is too old;
Firefox can be used as a standalone app;
Chrome is missing, but why???
It is a portable version downloaded from your download.

Chrome engine is disabled for XP since build 8 (guess it doesn't work well with XP?) viewtopic.php?f=36&t=34965

You could try an older version from here: http://avant.it-mate.co.uk/?c=Download& ... /16_Series

Thanks.

This old version works fine with XP; I've lost a huge amount of time to come to the truth;-)

I have found out that Avant version (2016) 5 is somehow working with WinXP.
I would appreciate if someone could correct me in this case within a longer experience; maybe, I am mistaken.
Thanks in advance.
Perhaps, it should be a version between (2015) build 10 and (2016) build 5.

What should I be thinking?
Nobody will still be using WinXP? Or else:
Nobody will still be using older versions of Avant?
Lol ;-)

Once I am using Firefox, I am getting the preserved Login and Password implemented (filled out).
What about Avant?
I can see Avant is trying to preserve them; but how can I call them back?

If Avant's AutoFill is turned on, you should receive the dialog below in the upper right corner of the browsing window. Once you've saved everything using that dialog, you'll need to make sure the AutoFills button in on your toolbar. If you have the option(*) checked, they'll appear in your Bookmarks menu.

(*)Options -> Auto-Complete -> Show AutoFill Under Bookmarks
