$avantbrowser$.update.exe

Post by arc1950 » Tue Jul 21, 2015 1:53 am

I noticed something was downloading on my computer, when I looked in "C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Temp" there is a file called $avantbrowser$.update.exe with today's date- what is this? I tried running it thinking it would update my current build 11 to 12 but it unpacks something and then stops with no comment or error message . It still says I am using build 11. I am using Windows 7.

I have also tried uninstalling build 11, rebooting my computer and then running $avantbrowser$.update.exe but again it unpacks something and then nothing and I do not have Avant Browser. I have reinstalled build 11.

I have mobile broadband with a limited data allowance each month, this was 74MB which is a large amount of my daily allowance. If this is an automatic update can this option be turned off?

I have had options "automatically install hotfixes" checked for many years and never seen $avantbrowser$.update.exe in my Temp folder, I assumed it was for updates between builds.

Is $avantbrowser$.update.exe an update to build 12 and if so how do I install it?

The $avantbrowser$.update.exe is the auto update file. It only can be executed by Avant browser. After it finishes downloading, when you restart Avant,Avant will pop up a notice and tell you a new version is available and ask you whether to update. Click Yes, then the browser auto update itself.

I have shut down Avant Browser and started it again, it did not give any message about update available. When I try "Check for Updates" it takes me to to download page to download build 12.

How do I execute $avantbrowser$.update.exe ?
