Videos

Post by phoenix1 » Sat Apr 25, 2015 8:25 am

Since yesterday I have problems playing videos, especially on Facebook.
Example: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=949504248442540. There ist the message "We are having trouble playing this video"
I am using latest version of Avant Browser with the chrome engine. In the Firefox engine or the IE engine, however, everything is displayed correctly.

Is a new attitude required? How to solve the problem?
Thank you

Maybe checking "always allow" for the flash plugin helps under chrome://plugins/ (address bar)

I just noticed chrome engine was using an older flash version here, while i have the latest flash also installed, so there are 2 flash versions installed. I disabled the oldest now under chrome://plugins/

You also have 2 versions there?

You could also read this http://www.maketecheasier.com/fix-flash ... in-chrome/

And do you have problems with the stand alone Chrome also?

Strange: I also have 2 versions of Flash. But it does not matter if I activate these two, or only the newest or the elderly: the result is always the same. Nothing is displayed.
Incidentally stand alone chrome works without problems.

Do you use any ad block extension under chrome engine?

Did you install any other app or extension before the problem appears? You may also try to clear the browser cache.

Only do that if you rebuild your engine every time you change the oil.

I have installed only following extensions, which are active:
BetaFish Adblocker 2.29
YouTube Unblocker 0.5.6
They were installed months ago. No change in the last weeks.
BTW: I tested to deinstall adblocker, but there was no succes to see the video.

Following extensions are not active:
Dragon NaturallySpeaking Rich Internet Application Support 1.0 (I did not install ist in a special way, i think the installation was forced by installing Dragon naturally speaking)
Norton Security Toolbar

thanks for your support

It's been years, but other Norton security products used to have issues with blocking things even when they weren't running. I personally experienced it.

If you're not using it and don't need it, you might try uninstalling that toolbar and whatever it came with, if it came with something, completely

Some things you can try:

1. rightclick flash--> settings --> and disable hardware acceleration.
2. add Facebook to trusted sites
3. disable all extensions and see if that helps (better restart your computer after this)

About those 2 versions of flash under chrome://plugins/

The first 1 with location:C:\Program Files\Avant Browser\webkit\PepperFlash\pepflashplayer.dll is the one that came with chrome when you downloaded Avant Ult.

The second one with location: C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\ is the stand alone version which already was on your computer.

So if you always want to use the lastest version of flash, you better disable the first one (chrome) and have only the second one enabled.

Advantage is that you can always update this one to the latest version, unlike the one that came with chrome in Avant, which is mostly an older build.
