Clearing cache for one site

Post by White Phoenix » Sun Sep 01, 2013 2:40 pm

Hello. I am having a problem with an error page from a site that keeps loading every time I start Avant. Is there a place to find the list of sites visited and clear the cookies just for that one site? I know I could do this in Opera, and I think Firefox too, but I can’t find anything that looks comparable in Avant’s menu, or browser options.

I'm not aware of any way to do this in Avant, but you might be able to locate and delete the offending cookie by going to your Cookies folder and searching there for the file(s) that contain the name of the site in plain text. In Win7, the Cookies folder is at C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies.

Yes, I’ll go ahead and search the cookies manually. The problem I’ve been having is an error message page from my online bank. Even though there is no problem, it keeps loading as soon as Avant starts up. I installed Firefox, went to the site. Closed and re-opened Firefox and the page didn’t appear. So I am guessing that it is something to do with a problem in the cookie cache. F5 did nothing to fix the problem, so I need to delete the cookies and reset them for going to the site.

I just finished checking. The cookies folder is empty. Now I have another page doing it. 8-\

Which option is selected in Tools > Avant Browser Options > Exiting > When exiting Avant browser:? If it's not already set to Always exit directly, set it that way to see if that affects the problem with the banking site. If the error message goes away, and you want to use one of the other two exiting options, change the setting and see what happens. The problem might or might not return.

Now the Avant Homepage is doing it too. Avant Options is not under Tools. They’re separate. Exiting option was set to Prompt instead of Automatic, but setting it to Exit directly may clear everything out of where ever it saves tab information. Here goes.

Sorry. It's in different places depending on which skin you're using.

Xiaobing had the correct answer! The question now is, “How did they wind up there?", so I don’t do it again.

Hmm. It looks like I clicked on the wrong thing when trying to save the password settings. I’ll have to watch that.

Thanks Mike and Xiaobing for your assistance.
