Please do the following. If you get the same problem, please confirm.

Maybe someone can explain how to cure this issue described below ?
I'm still testing stable version 2012 (Bld.8 )

1. Copy this url into address filed. Hit ENTER or Shift+ENTER.
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlo ... 94130.aspx

2. A webpage appears. It contains several icons, one for each module of Office 2010.
When clicking icon, you are (normally) directed to the corresponding 'Guide'

3. However in AB (and IE8 as well) clicking any module icon (e.g. for Excel) I'm redirected the same wrong "window" which shows the download page for Silverlight ! This window can be freely dragged over the underlaying previous webpage.
But the address remains as it is :
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlo ... 94130.aspx

Actually at point 3 the corresponding guide should appear (like it does very well using Firefox on same PC).
However it does nothing else as to open the download page of Silverlight, which by the way is already installed here !

The links function correctly for me, so the problem must be found in the differences between your set-up & mine.

Mine: Win 7 (32-bit), AB 2012 ult. build 8, IE9

It pops up this page:

Same result when I use other browsers.

So I'm not alone with this strange problem.
I really don't know why we are not directed to the corresponding guides.Where to look for a solution ?
With FF it works ok here ! (I will make another test using Chrome)

I got the same result in IE9, firefox 9, chrome 17.So I don't think it's the problem of Avant browser.

Notice the words in the download page, seems silvelight is needed to read the guide

In my case, Silverlight was ALREADY installed. But since I was always redirected to this downloadpage after several attempts, I re-installed it. But that made no difference.

On the contrary. With all due respect, the conclusion would be (so far) that only with IE and AB some users (members reading AB forum) have this problem. Other people using AB or IE (but not reading our forum) might as well have the same problem.

I agree with your conclusion only so far as possibly our settings are not compliant to make those icon links operating as they should. In any case, a link is a link. It can only point to ONE url target and only one.Why are we redirected to a 'sub-target' page ? That is our problem.

Off topic: Those guides are very well designed and valuable help for people used to MSOffice 2003, to learn the use of version 2010.

I must correct my words. When I posted the images, I didn't have silverlight installed.
The link works now after I installed silverlight.
Have you installed silverlight ,xiaobing?

Merel ,is it possible that you didn't update your silverlight to the latst version?
which rendering engine do you use?(Tools>Default rendering engines)
It works if you use firefox rendering engines?

So far, I tried following :

A. Another render engine.
My AB shows only two options :
1/ IE Compatible (which was checked on)
2/ IE8 Standards ( which I choose now for a new test)

B. That didn't improve situation. Same results (clicking an icon does not load the guide but links to download page, as shown in example of Julien90. Please note that the TITLE for the 'corresponding module' on this page is different depending which icon has been clicked.

So since I was on the download page for Silverlight, I again (third time) installed this software.
The installation process does not ask to first uninstall the current installation, neither does it ask to restart the computer once the software is installed. It ends with telling user that Silverlight installation was is successful.
So it was installed 'OVER' the current installation, without problem.

With the changed rendering engine changed (point A) + fresh Silverlight installation, the situation is still the same:
- AB does not make the expected links to the 'Guides'
- Firefox does it OK (a progress bar is shown, before accessing the Guide)

I'm now using FF as standard browser because , besides 'not working links' , once in a while ybrowser is still freezing the whole system, for unknown reason. Someone wrote to install a special version of Avant Browser. (Premium or something alike)
Is this some advanced beta version, which allows the rendering engine of FF to be installed in AB ?

Thank you all for received valuable help and suggestions.

Only the ultimate version has the freifox rendering engine, you are using the Lite version now.
Please download Ultimate version here:
http://forum.avantbrowser.com/viewtopic ... 36&t=30707

I notice you said the link doesn't work in both IE and Avant browser(IE engine).
So, it's possible the problem of IE engine, try to reinstall your IE and see whether there is difference.

Thank you ,xiaobong
I installed the 'Ultimate' version.

With the rendering mode in AB being set to the Firefox engine , the icon-links are working OK !
I guess that not only those specific 'icon-links' on this particular webpage are not working with previous AB versions.
Other users might suffer the same issue for other links not operating as expected ?

As for IE8...
Since Ultimate (with FF engine) seems to cure the issue for this specific webpage, I don't see the point any more installing IE8 again. I don't use it much. But apparently MicrosoftUpdates website is demanding the mandatory use of IE !
