SkyDrive

Post by darth » Sat Aug 09, 2008 4:10 pm

First visit to www.windowslive.com. Was surprised to learn that Windows has free online storage of 5 GB, 24/7. Some may be interested in this. At the present time I, have'nt tried it yet. The program is SkyDrive.

Hm..mmm, Did`nt know that, darth. Although the Post`s i`ve seen in Avant Browser Help re online storage have perhaps frightened me away from the facility. I`d need to know that there is a Windows forum with a Jasmine to mail-up to.

AXEMEN, I want to investigate it a little more on the Inernet First.
And yes, ReleaseRoderick, viewing Avant Help Re Online Storage, does give one pause on the matter.

First off if I am misunderstanding this I appolgize.. Skydrive and Avant's Online Storage have nothing to do with each other. But what about Online Storage do you have a concern about?

As for Skydrive, you pick whether you want your file to be available to everyone on the internet or just friends or just you and then you upload something to your account. It will then give you a hotlinkable address to post anywhere you want, to allow someone to download whatever you have allowed for them to download. I have not played around with the non-public features to much though. I hope that gives you a good enough picture of what Skydrive is.

Bear in mind folks - anything stored on someone elses server is out of your control. A much better idea if you're going to be using this for backups, is to get yourself an external hard drive (500GB drives can be found for around $100 or there abouts - http://www.computerorbit.co.uk/Itemdesc ... IE&eq=&Tp= )

Yes, totally agree with Mystery you shouldn't trust online storage for anything of great importance.. There are alot better, safer ways for that route.. I use Skydrive for hosting of files that I want others to beable to download.. Like having a server on the internet but free.
