Woo-hoo! With the new Vista style licensing methods. Don't be changing hardware on your system after this Service Pack or you'll have a non-working Windows that will need to be re-registered. Have FUN! :)

Really?
I've installed additional RAM and changed my video adapter after installing the Vista's service pack 1 without the need to re-activate my Windows. :?
You know...
I've had some "activation issue" once with my Windows XP... I've installed it on my new PC when my old PC was broken.
So I've called Microsoft and explained them the situation and they gave the new activation number without any problems at all... (I know, They shouldn't have according to the license agreement, But they gave me... Dunno why...)

I think I read about that new registration scheme in XP SP3 in PCWorld recently, but I'm not sure. Could have been eWeek. 8)

Product Activation keeps users from changing or upgrading their hardware.
Not true at all. Users can change or upgrade their hardware. One of the forms of piracy that Product Activation guards against is hard disk imaging. Not all forms of hard disk imaging are illegal. In the case where a pirate copies data from one PC hard drive to another to illegally run the software on two PCs, Product Activation stops that by forcing the copied software to be reactivated. It does so by comparing the hardware on which it was activated to the hardware on which it is now being booted. If the hardware is substantially different, then reactivation is required. If it is the same or similar, then the software will continue to work. Those who upgrade their PC's hardware substantially may be asked to reactivate. Reactivation for this reason is easy and can be completed by contacting Microsoft to obtain another confirmation ID

Well, Again, I guess that you'll have to re-activate your Windows just in case of you'll change your mainboard.
It usually takes a few minutes to reactivate Windows by phone. (They even give you a local toll-free number to call them)
(Dunno why... But I tend to support Microsoft and use as much Microsoft's products as possible... Windows Vista as the home OS, Windows server as the server OS, Windows Mobile as the smartphone OS, .Net as the programming language/development environment, IIS as the web server, Zune as the MP4 player etc...)

Trident as the rendering engine, Onecare as the Security Suite.. WLM Messenger for instant messaging, Expression Web as the webdev IDE. :) I thought I would expand your list alittle. Even if you dont agree with one or two..lol
