Avant's new Download Manager - 11.6 b2

Post by ABman » Tue Oct 23, 2007 11:27 am

The beta forum was locked so I put it here.
Here we go. I use StarDownloader so how do I stop Avant's Download Manager?
I've checked the boxes in AB Options Add-ons for StarDownloader; I've unchecked Capture File Download but it still starts Avant's Download Manager instead of StartDownloader. tia

I didn't check the SDIEInt.dll in Add-ons. It's working now. In fact it works without all three IE Context Menu items checked for StarDownloader. So the only one that's needed is the SDIEInt.dll Browser Helper Object. Makes sense actually.
At least it works for me anyway. :D

I like the idea of the integrated download manager but not so much when it popups on this RSS feed://googleblog.blogspot.com/atom.xml

Other feeds i have are on as usual without the DM intervening (so far).

(11.6 b4, posting to this thread to avoid clutter)

two notes on the download manager:

- I was reluctant because I thought it useless, since flashget or similar is installed anyway. I was so wrong. I am using Avants manager all the time and it works very flawless and fast. Thanks Anderson!

- Notes on the Downloadmanager:

-1- It should remember "more options mode", i.e. next time it should show more options again, not compact mode. To get back compact mode, one would have to click "compact mode", and it would remember that again. Remembering would be consistent with the fact that it also remembers the number of filesplits, and the download directory.

-2- More important, it is unclear if "delete" refers to the entry, or the file itself. I would
call it "delete entry".
I find it impractical, that, to remove an entry completely, one has to click "delete", then "downloads button", then "deleted downloads", then select entry, then "delete", then confirm, and possibly check/uncheck "delete file". That is too complicated. Suggestion: Pressing "shift" before clicking "delete" with entries in the downloaded folder leads to immediate popping up of the dialog "are you sure to delete ..." This would be consistent with standard windows explorer / recycling bin behavior.
