I have a thought, instead of Anderson having to write all of these suggestions to the Quick Search. How about making a sticky thread where we can have a list of different ones we like and people can add the ones they want to suggest?

It can be in the format of :
Title
What it is:
Web address:
String to add to quick search:

eg:
Wikipedia
A living Encyclopedia about everything, that gets updated daily
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%s

I think this will be able to keep the quick search clean and people can add what they want.

A good suggestion SweetLou, here it is. (I edited it a bit)
Okay Folks if you have a QUICK SEARCH suggestion you think others would like Post 'Em Here as described above.!

Rcasula found a workaround for AB converting the Quick Search strings to lower-case:
Rcasula wrote:
A simple workaround for AB converting the Quick Search strings to lower-case is to code the upper-case characters in UTF-8
e.g.:
{1} For Australia this would mean the follow string would work:
http://www.google.com.au/search?q=%s&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&hl=en&meta=cr%3dcountry%41%55
{2} For the UK:
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&ie ... e=utf-8&q=%s&btng=search&meta=cr%3dcountry%55%4b%7ccountry%47%42)

All we're doing here is replacing the upper-case characters in the URL with their character codes:
A=%41, B=%42, C=%43, D=%44, E=%45, F=%46, G=%47, H=%48,
I=%49, J=%4a, K=%4b, L=%4c, M=%4d, N=%4e, O=%4f, P=%50,
Q=%51, R=%52, S=%53, T=%54, U=%55, V=%56, W=%57, X=%58,
Y=%59, Z=%5a

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've used Avant's Quick Search to create a shortcut for getting to .co.uk sites easily.

By setting up a quick search shortcut of "uk" and URL of "http://www.%s.co.uk", I can type "uk bbc" into my address bar and hitting enter takes me to http://www.bbc.co.uk.

The same idea could be used for any url.

Here's one I copied form another thread.

I hate posting this as I am no fan of Google but....... here's one for you music lovers;

Alias: gmp3
URL: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=U ... x.of?+mp3+%s

Example usage;

gmp3 aerosmith

Or

Alias gmusic
URL: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=U ... index.of?+%s+%s

Example usage;

gmusic video aerosmith

Where the alias is of course, your choice.
