My requests include: 1 Having a "Close all favorites ..." menu selction like the "Open all Favorites ..." one 2 Having the Zoom function work for individual pages if one wants it that way - so that one can have one page zoomed at 200 % and another at 100% for example 3 Having a button on the menu ba...

Regarding the Hosts expired batch file. ONce you have the list of "bad" entries for the Hosts file, the Hosts file must then be edited and these entries removed. Would it be simpler to have the batch file build a new Hosts.tmp file of "good" entries which could be renamed Hosts after the process was...

Online Storage

I am looking for a reliable low cost mass storage (~ 1GB) online for a couple of months.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thx for the reply, TOMaxwell, I would be interested to see how it is done.

After reading the thread I updated my Hosts file from the source at which I originally obtained it, but it would be more thorough to verify the sites as well.

Underlining would be helpful. Also as someone above suggested a different and/or larger font would also be good.

You might also make the current tab itself larger (longer) than inactive tabs

Mystery, thx for the tip, regarding the bad sites.

TOM, how did you check the sites in your hosts file? Do you have some automated method? If so could you advise?

Thx

Thx very much for a most enlightening set of articles to read. When I first bought the computer I use from an acquaintance and put it online, it was loaded with nasty things taking me to sex websites and uploading copious quantities of data to the net (3 Gb in about 4 hours left idle online!) and it...

Standard Search

I have done a brief search but have not found the question I would like answered. Is it possible to add to the list of standard search engines in Avant? Avant comes with Avantfind and numerous Google sites on the list - can I add others to that list so that my standard search could be Clusty or Grok...

A simple line on how to use a particular search site doesn't belong in "Avant Requests" which is intended (if I read all the other requests there correctly) for requests for changes or additions to Avant's functionality.

I agree with this idea I just posted a "tip" about using Grokker search engine to Avant discussion, where it probably doesn't belong, and it was moved to the Avant request section at the end of another thread on using Scroogle where it also doesn't belong A tips section would allow people to post th...

using Grokker

If you want to use the Grokker visual search page, which creates a "map" of relevant search items based on a Yahoo search the line

http://www.grokker.com/applet.html?query=%s

in your Avant options search section will do it

I believe I am having the same problem as the author of the thread. If I try to access a project, the project may appear for a second but then the frame reverts to "Choose a Project ...", if I have even seen anything different, which I only have once. Usually that portion of the screen goes white fo...

Hotmail and cookies

For the last couple of days we have had a problem accessing Hotmail - we get a notice to "enable Cookies" although as far as we know they are enabled - we have used Hotmail for a long time without problem and made no changes to any settings. I tried the "Privacy" tab in Internet Options and lowered ...

If you check a couple of the recent thread about Yahoo, you will see that a similar problem of a button being grayed out was occurring to me. When I made sure Flash is enabled and the Adblock is off, under toos, the box would become usable (not grayed) when I refreshed. You might experiment with the...

Put your favorites files/folders into C:\Documents and Settings\GK\Favorites
where you will replace GK with your user name on your computer and Avant will find them. At least that is where mine are and Avant has no problem

I have always run the program as avant.exe

My feeling is that Yahoo is doing what it can to frustrate users who want to block ad content - not surprisingly.

Yahoo and Flash

I have just tried using the Yahoo Compose function with Flash enabled and disabled. When Flash is Enabled, the attachment button comes up with black type and thus one can attach files, but when Flash is disabled, the button is grayed out and no attachments can be made. And when I use Reply on a mess...
