Nah, nothing was DLed, nothing changed, no settings, no nothing. In fact, the last change made was DL-ing Avant. When I made that no worries post, it was my 2nd day using it. The crashes began very soon after, culminating in 3 today. Truth is, I only have a use for tabbed browsing at work. But I hat...

I think I'm headed back to straight IE, or perhaps one of the other derivations. Between the popup blockers shortcomings, and the too frequent crashes, I think my trial period has ended.

Good advice. It's happened to me. Popups that my blocker was missing. I figured out what it was when I saw it was happening even when not connected to the net.

As blockers get more sophisticated, so do the popups. They're written in different languages, which the blocker may not be designed to detect or combat.

Of the free ones I tried, Meaya was the best. Only problem was, once in a while, it would shut the main window on you. But it never missed a thing. Earthlink's is hands down the best, and runs piggy back on IE, but you have to be a subscriber to get and use it.

I dunno, maybe it's me, but I find the blocker among the worst, if not THE very worst I've tried. It misses LOTS of popups. I'm considering going back to plain IE simply because i can use the Earthlink popup blocker with it.

Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but doesn't the latest Avant build have the ability to block pics?

Well the thing is, you have to have server space to upload the pic to. Many ISPs offer free webspace (server space) and there are free ones on the net, but most don't allow hot linking (which is what you wish to do). But should you get a server, and upload a plc onto it, the method for boards that s...

Thanks, but it's easier to just remove the icon from the toolbar, and click view, source, to get the editor I want. Or perhaps just uninstall frontpage. I never touch the thing anyway.

The tabbed browsing is great at work. If my bosses happen by, a split second is all that's required to hide a non-business related site. And since they use IE for everything, and this really IS IE in a new suit, they can't complain about security issues. Like IE doesn't have vulnerabilities in the 1...

1 serious advantage IE has, and hence AB has, is the ability to move the toolbars where YOU want them. I eliminate a whole toolbar level from the browser top, just by shifting things around (both IE and AB), so that I have maximum page area, and minimum toolbar area. Auto-complete is another biggie,...

I'm glad to see I'm not the only 1 who loathes Blozilla and Netscrape. I know all about IE's CSS support, or lack thereof, but for me, the things it doesn't support/supports incorrectly, don't seem to be crucial problems. They're a lot easier to live with and work around than say, Moz/NS **** poor J...
