Re: Windows 8 upgrade (from Windows 7)

Wow bummer man was that on a windows 8 upgrade disk i also have win 7 and my bud said stay away from win8   No, this was the cheap-until-Jan. 31st ($39.99) instant download from Microsoft, although I suppose the same problem would exist even if one used an upgrade disk to install the u...

Windows 8 upgrade (from Windows 7)

:!: Let the Buyer Beware: I've just spent a miserable two days ... first, attempting (but failing) to successfully upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8, and then, undoing all the unnecessary paring-down of apps, etc., which were my attempt to make my Windows 7 layout as vanilla as possible. The probl...

Re: Does one rendering engine work better than the other two

I'd have to vote for the Firefox engine. I had used only the IE variant of AB until that period in development (a year ago?) when there were SO MANY PROBLEMS with ybrowser.exe. To be free of those problems, I "temporarily" switched to using the Firefox rendering engine, discovered some of ...

Re: Please continue improving Avant Browser only for IE

Hi, 1. please develop & maintain a separate version only for IE with following changes. As i don't prefer using FF & Chrome ... 8. incorporate all the other options in this future build which can be found in "ultimate build" (should be available/developed only for IE) Thanks abuser The IE-only vers...

Re: Which process is responsible for freeze?

If you see the freeze (or the lilac-colored screen) on a specific tab, you should be able to identify the PID for that tab by hovering your mouse over the tab's marker in the tab bar. The processes in task manager are labeled with their PID numbers, so you should kill the process with the same PID ...

Re: Rendering engine setting in Options overrides other comm

I agree. The "default rendering engine" assignment for a specific URL or domain should be changed to "default rendering engine unless otherwise specified in a specific instance" ... because if you go to the trouble of specifying a different rendering engine "just this one time," it should be assumed...

Re: new user and some question

I'd like to put a lock tab button in tab bar.. It's possible? Right click a tab>Lock. Is this what you want? What effects does this have? I believe (but I may be wrong) that "Lock" is most useful to those who *generally* allow clicked links to "open in current tab," but in a special instance want t...

Re: Double click lilac screen to refresh after engine crash

I suppose it [AB 2013] comes around the new year. The earlier the better, because (as ill-advised as it may be) I intend to upgrade to Windows 8 during the "cheap upgrade" period (which ends Jan. 31, 2013), and I want there to be a Windows 8-compatible version of Avant Browser when I do so. (The up...

Re: Autofill not filling on first attempt

Ironically, the only time I experience this problem (out of the countless autofills logins I have) is on the Avant Browser Forum login, and then only half the time (no pattern that I can discern).

Re: Status bar question .. 'ghost' message

@tourist: The message within the red border in your image is the url for the "Sniper Class" video, which indicates your cursor is hovering over that link. As this is standard behavior for Chrome *and* Firefox, I don't understand how this is a problem. @WacoJohn (and others): Although I don't know th...

The difference in location may have been because I'm running Windows 7 and (according to your info) you're running Windows XP.

I'm glad I was able to be of some help.

Re: Sudden loss of e-mail option

Here's a thought (which you may have already investigated): I note that you discovered your problem on a Tuesday and Microsoft pushes down updates overnight Monday/Tuesday traditionally. So, it may be that your Avant Browser options are pointing to a path & file which have been moved or renamed duri...

Re: about:blank page

I should mention, all these months later, that none of my sleuth work and "possible culprits" turned out to be the problem, from what I can tell. Eventually, I gave up and did as Jasmine recommended: I recreated my Avant Profiles folder (as a precaution, you should rename or move the current Avant P...
