Re: Outstanding Issues List

Also, whenever referencing anything about a bug or posting info about bug fixes, you should always include the bug number of the bug in question. That is, the bug number NNNN corresponding to: http://forum.avantbrowser.com/tracker.php?p=1&t=NNNN (And p=2 for Orca bugs.) For example, for all the fixe...

Re: Outstanding Issues List

Hi Jasmine,

If that's the case, I suggest whenever you confirm a bug from the forum, you need to post an update into the thread stating the bug is confirmed and also include a link to the bug in the bug tracker.

Re: Outstanding Issues List

Supposedly, the Avant bug tracker is here: http://forum.avantbrowser.com/tracker.php?p=1 But I would like to know if that is the master bug list? Is that the bug list that Anderson himself uses? Are notes updated to that as the bugs are worked on/fixed? Are the statuses updated? If that _is_ the mas...

Re: Why "y" -- That is, why ybrowser.exe?

Thanks ABman for that very interesting related info, but actually, isn't asking for answers from Avant devs or staff much better than drawing our own conclusions? As well, I just noticed, why does the Avant 2010 Build 8 updates page here: http://www.avantbrowser.com/new.html have 2 fewer update poin...

Re-named avanttab.exe to ybrowser.exe for preventing some potential errors related to stability
My question is WHY? Firstly, why does renaming from avanttab.exe to ANYTHING else prevent any potential stability issues?
Yes, I would also very much like an answer to this question!

2010 build 1: How to add a standard search engine

It looks like the search engines in Avant Browser Options > Search Engine > Standard Search : Web are the ones listed in the search box to the right of the address bar. My question is how to add another search engine? I don't seem to find a method. Sorry, this question may not necessarily even be fo...

Re: Drop-down menu does not work

However, Avant, and other pieces of software, can change this by adding an entry to the registry. But that is the whole point of Victor Delta's question: " Will Avant 12 also include a 'compatibility' feature so as to avoid, for example, the current display problems with Gmail?" Will this compatibi...

Every Windows user to get pop-up menu of internet browsers

Every person who owns a computer with Microsoft Windows is to be offered their choice of internet browsers in an automatic pop-up menu following an agreement today between the software company and the European Union. In March next year all PCs will be sent a software update that will cause a window ...

Re: [split topic] Browser speeds

Hi abfan123, you keep saying it is hard to tell the difference between Trident and Gecko speeds, and I don't doubt that's probably true for you, but you would certainly be the exceptional case. I find through practical, hands-on use of many computers that it is easy to feel and see that Trident is h...

Re: [split topic] Browser speeds

Actually, in real life scenarios, use your normal websites that you normally go to. Real, working, service-oriented websites that do more than "just show stuff on the screen" are using more and more Javascript, eg. GMail, Facebook, Google Maps, etc, etc. You will easily feel and see that any Trident...

Re: [split topic] Browser speeds

@Browser Peeper, I agree with most of your review and summary. Could I just ask about "In the category of stability, Avant is the winner." ? In your notes and review, you didn't seem to mentioned anything about stability. Also, regarding "the removal of a tabbed webpage from within the confines of t...

Re: Problem with web-page

And just to be perfectly clear (from one of those previous sentences) I am not saying Avant is bad. Avant is a very nice IE-shell and provides many useful features. (But then that's why I strongly advocate using Orca, which uses the same very nice shell UI but uses the better Gecko engine. :-) ) The...

What is "orkut"? Google's own social networking site. http://www.orkut.com Everyone knows that!

Well, actually not everyone..... :P But it's mainly used in Brazil, India, and Pakistan.

Re: Problem with web-page

It is actually excellent and wonderful that you say "IE 8, Fox, Opera or else, which is correct" and "wrong displayed page in IE 6&7 and also with Avant Browser". Why is it excellent? Because you are building a standards correct and compliant website that displays correctly and expected for the stan...

This Skype add-on is magical!

My preference for Avant is due to Avant's faster speed when compared to Orca. Realistically, that should be impossible. Orca is based on Gecko rendering engine and Tracemonkey Javascript engine which are both faster than Avant, which is based on Trident rendering engine and Microsoft JScript for Ja...

Re: Insert option to avoid localisation

Not sure if it's possible, but couldn't the browser include an option to tell certain websites that the user doesn't want to be 'redirected' to a local version of the website!? For example: when I visit google.com, I end up at a dutch version of google.com. I don't want that. It would be nice if I ...

Re: Utube Message

So imo, "IE shell" is not entirely correct definition for Avant. "Trident Shell" would be more correct. That's exactly the first thing that is written about what "IE Shell" means in the IE Shell Wikipedia article pointed to by bigC. "IE Shell" is just the generally used term to describe all such br...

Re: Utube Message

imo, The correct term for Avant is a browser that is using the Trident rendering engine. That's exactly what "IE Shell" means. Avant is like an outer shell or outer covering around the Trident rendering engine that's inside/in the core. Significantly, the Trident core is not part of nor distributed...
