Re: No FF as rendering engine

AFAIK, you can only use the FF rendering engine that comes included with Avant, which for AB2012 Ultimate b16 I believe is FF 8.0.1

Re: Avant Ultimate 2012 with firefox-rendering 3.6.25

I believe that Firefox 9 definitely has the best Firefox performance, because it has all the interface and garbage collector improvements since FF4, and JaegerMonkey Javascript engine, and now with Type Inference in FF9. We do not need multiple versions of FF as previously for IE because there are n...

Re: Dumped Avant 2011 build 33

oh how do you get problems you test each version that comes out thats why you report bugs smart guy That's exactly where you are wrong! I am NOT testing each (stable) version. I would just like to USE each (stable) version. And responding to Julien90, I know it is impossible to have a bug-free prog...

Re: Dumped Avant 2011 build 33

I agree with each new build say the last version had 5 problems they get fixed but then there are 5 new problems. But understand that we are the testers. That is absolutely wrong. I don't know if you mean for AB 2011 b33 as in this post title, but what about all the problems with AB 2012 b8, which ...

Re: ie compatible and ie9 standards

IE Compatible means rendering webpages and running Javascript according to the way previously done in IE browser ver. 6 and 7. This is deliberately Microsoft-different and did not conform to HTML/CSS/Javascript standards. You may wish to view webpages in this format if they were written to the Micro...

Re: Avant Browser future plans/2011 roadmap

Lunascape uses Apples's Webkit engine which I think I used for Safari so technically It's got nothing to do with Google Chrome's engine. You need to consider two different aspects: One aspect of the browser is rendering engine (to display the webpages). One of Lunascape's three rendering engines is...

Re: Avant beats firefox and chrome

I am pretty sure firefox and chrome are one now i downloaded firefox however in c/program files it states it is chrome i did this as as a test. :) I'm not sure what you mean by "Firefox and Chrome are one now". Do you mean in reference to Avant somehow? Otherwise, they are definitely separate and d...

Re: Avant Browser 2012 RC 2

@dutchdummy, yes you are probably experiencing the "dual-core" feature of Avant 2012: it has built in support for 2 rendering engines, IE/Trident/traditional Avant and Gecko/Firefox/traditional Orca. If opening many tabs increases the memory usage of the firefox process, it's probably because you ar...

Re: Curious about the size of AB 2012

I just wondered why the download size of AB 2012 (22.7 MB) is 3 times the size of Firefox download (7.54 MB). I guess it's because Firefox downloads a lot more during installation. Could AB do it this way? Except that is not the size of the Firefox download. The current Firefox 6.0.2 download is 13...

Because there's nothing wrong with .zip files, they work perfectly fine, and they're automatically supported as "archived files" starting with Windows XP. angeldust, if you're having problems with .zip files like mentioned in the other post, there's something wrong with your computer's unzipping/una...

Re: 64-bit AB? When?

How long do you think 32 bit browsers will be used from this point forward? Probably 2 to 3 years still to go yet, I think. I'd say within the next year, virtually everyone will be running 64 bit Browsers and virtually all Add-Ons, Extenstions, Plugins, etc... will be 64 bit Compatible as well. I a...

Re: Why does ABrowser insist on changing my home page?

I guess it only happens with a fresh install, not over the old. That's true, bigC. I've just noticed that. Yet I think AB should ask me before changing it! So, bigC, do you or anyone else have an answer if the question is appropriately modified? "Why does ABrowser insist on changing my home page on...

It would probably have helped to follow the discussions a little further back then (or perhaps do a forum search). There most definitely were official Alpha and Beta versions of Avant 2010 ( previously Avant 11.8 ). See: http://forum.avantbrowser.com/viewforum.php?f=49 - General development and Alph...

8. Integrate Chrome's render engine.
So Avant 2011 will be a direct competitor to Lunascape browser and Maxthon browser.

Re: IE9

It it still no where near ready for full time use. The earliest estimates for release is in 2011 which is almost a year away. IE 9 in it's current form would most certainly not be the browser killer. I believe Microsoft is targeting to release IE 9 by late 2010 or early 2011. At most, half a year a...
