I concur wholeheartedly with drGonzo about FTP clients. The two that he recommends are both good. Another good, free one, is AceFtp which can be found at:

Re: IESpell

Sara, thanks for the recommendation about IESpell. I for one can certainly use it. I downloaded it and it works great. This is one of the things I love about the forum--one can get lots of good ideas and programs from others. Again, thanks  ::)

Re: Unable to Render my ISP's Web Page

Geez, I have just spent an hour reading about SQL servers and ADODB. There is a lot of info on Google about this error message. I have two suggestions that might work. Shut down your browser and empty the cache and then try connecting again. 2ndly, and this is kind of extreme, but it fits the info o...

Re: Unable to Render my ISP's Web Page

Hey, I realize that wasn't a very helpful reply. I went to your ISP's webpage and found the following info in their FAQs: How secure is Wireless Network? Network security is provided through the use of Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) RF techniques. DSSS is a highly secure, FCC approved commun...

Re: When Downloading 'Open' option does not...

I usually save my files to the desktop, but I checked to see what would happen if I selected "open" and the normal download window opens with the info about transfer rate, opening "file name -from", estimated time remaining, and download to "temp folder" just like it does in IE.

Re: why do we use AvantBrower?

My first love in browsers was Netscape (v. 4.7 I think). And then the browser wars between Netscape and IE started, and we all know the end result of that. I have tried several alternative browsers, e.g. Opera, Mozilla, Slim Browser. But ever since I discovered Avant Browser sometime last year, I ca...

Re: Minimized windows do not restore at former siz

hehe I was just joking with you. But seriously, it does look like a bug to me too. I have no idea how to fix this one  ::). It is fairly easy to resize the ICQ window, but I don't know why it exhibits that behavior.

Re: Ad-aware 6.0 available

It really is, but I have have much more success in finding it and removing it with Spybot -Search and destroy. It is also faster than Ad-Aware. Of course, each to his own  :P.
A link to Spybot is :  http://beam.to/spybotsd

Re: Minimized windows do not restore at former siz

I just checked out what you are talking about and I see the problem. And, guess what? I have a solution  ;). Just open IE and it works  ;D. Sorry, I couldn't resist that after all we went through on the other one  :P.

Sounds like a statement of fact. If it has already been decided, what difference does it make what we think?

intergRe: "cannot create Pages.dat" error message

Not being a computer programmer or guru this may be totally offbase, but I have noticed that there is a file in the Avant folder called pages.dat. It seems to record the sites visited on the net. So, according to Merlin's post, it would seem that the error message he is getting is that it cannot cre...

I don't know what the author has in mind for future versions of Avant, but here is a temporary workaround for your problem. You can go to the Google preferences page at: http://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en and check your language preference. Then you can go to:   http://www.google.com/options/wi...
